Quite a relatable read, this is common within us extended families, we tend to be comfortable with each other when in the same bottom level. Let one person excel and the indirect pull down kicks in.

Yes, thought I was listening to a story when I first heard the narration. It didn't make sense at a logical level, as nobody was leaving anybody, just a change of circumstances. And this new circumstance could over time be the standard circumstance for every member of the family. But alas, we've not evolved as much as we like to think of ourselves as modern people living in a modern world.
