Good progress I think and great that hubby got the ceiling done considering it might strain your back, am being careful with back related straining work now.
Glad the drive for shopping went well.
Documentation is not easy and for some reason am getting tired of some documentation here that could help towards Residence when the time comes. I think running around for documentation all my life in South Africa is affecting me physiologically I feel uninspired to do it again but New Zealand is different so I try to encourage myself to do what I can do.
You must be looking forward to traveling in 3 weeks time to offer you some resting time also.

Good you are careful too now so it can slowly heal.
Oh I so know… every time we moved countries I had to start all over again. Some countries is fast but others take forever to gather all paperwork. Sometimes the bureaucracy is crazy and people behind the desks don’t know all rules.
I can imagine you feeling like that. Don’t give up Joe. NZ is indeed different. Keep going until you have it all done for your residency. It is important. Is it 5 years to gather all for permanent residency? In europe it is, you get first temporary 5 years. Or 1 year you have to renew each year. Depending on visa.
Hubby has it here in Europe. (Now the UK left Europe) After 5 years he can go for permanent. But… hahaha we moved out of Ireland after 1 year so had to start here in the north again and we will move this year again. So the next EU country he will have to start from 0 again.
One thing I don’t like about moving countries, all the paperwork involved and all the time you put into it to get it sorted.

A bit of rest and just being. Exploring a new area and sunshine… spring weather. I so need a break.
We have to take 3 flights hahaha as from up here in the north we can’t go in one or even 2 flights to southern France. So a long traveling day.

Becoming a resident here is so different, a lot of factors count. You could become a resident straight away from overseas depending on skill level and qualification. As for me I don't have to wait for five years, by the end lol this year I should be able to apply for resident if the visa rules don't change, it have changed 3-4 times since I got here. But I also have to meet some points towards my application so am trying to try and get my work experience evaluated into their qualification here and it will be a point to boost me am hoping to be successful about that.

Oh I am soooo looking to visiting France. I am also meeting up with one of my best friends there. Haven’t seen her since years. So will be great to catch up and warm up in the sun.

Yes, it is looking so good. A shame we wont enjoy it for a while.
Tomorrow I continue with the landing, stairs and walls going down. Think that will be a big job. Although I already got the glue and cement like substance off the steps from the stairs. Now I need to restore them and the edge that goes into the wall. A lot of sanding off lacquer and scarping the next days.
I figured out somebody had put laminate over the stairs and pulled it off in the last 10 years or so. Cut of the step noses and put a lot of glue and other stuff on. It is a mess… I hope I can fix it and make the wood shine. I will paint it (the stairs) as they are too damaged but it will look good once I am finished.

It is a shame truly for all the renovation you've done and not enjoy it for a while but I suppose you have a good reason for that 😉
It sucks when someone does a bad job lol. I saw a photo of a bad job last week I had to scream "what the fuck" the cabling was so bad so it is a similar case with the job done over in that house and you seem passionate about getting it done properly.
That place is too cold it was 3⁰ C last night here I was so cold in bed. I hope some warm days come your way soon.

Sounds like you fully understand. Some people have no idea what they are doing. For now and the future. So when I leave here… I will leave it in good order for hears… decades to come.

That’s low also… we had freezing temperatures again and snow is coming… i can imagine you dint want to leave the bed even though you are already cold. More blankets… layers needed habaha
