Moeraki Boulders | Mysterious Spheres on New Zealand’s Coast

https://youtube.com/shorts/u-vc4AZjONg?si=fLio8UeYiAohYjMV

There are some unique hidden spots in New Zealand 🇳🇿 that are easy to miss if you are not from the country or not told about.
My friend told me about the boulders in February, and I stopped there to explore these nature wonders en route my drive to Invercargill.

I have driven along North Otago Coast several times but never stopped at the Moeraki Boulders beach, where there are wonderful boulders.

It is not surprising that there were tourists on the beach exploring and taking photos of the boulders. It was quite a wonderful view.

I asked some of the tourists to take photos of me, and I always felt the temperature of the water, which was cool.

My stop wasn't for long as I had to continue on my long drive but certainly worth the stop.

The atmosphere of the beach is very calm and peaceful, the unique rocks add to the beauty of the beach. The rocks at first glance resembles a giant turtle.

Awesome beach to stroll along, interesting place where rocks are well rounded. Could not quite read but will look up about this.

It has an interesting read about it when I looked briefly at it on Google, I should read up myself. Those boulders are interesting to see on the beach.

Moeraki Boulders, Waitaki

Scientists explain the boulders as calcite concretions formed about 65 million years ago. According to Maori legend, the boulders are gourds washed ashore from the great voyaging canoe Araiteuru when it was wrecked upon landfall in New Zealand hundreds of years ago.

Myth, Legends always interesting New Zealand is an interesting place.
