Found on Elizabeth Ave, Rakaia | CCC'S Street Art Contest #246
With murals from Invercargill out of the way, other ones from from New Zealand in the South Island now get the chance to be seen by the community π
I hunted this one on the 24th of November 2024, so it has been waiting to be shared for quite a while.
I found it on 68 Elizabeth Avenue, Rakaia. I was driving from Wanaka to Christchurch, and Google maps alerted me of an accident on SH1 and suggested a detour for me, which I took, as the detour was about to connect me back onto SH1, I found this beautiful mural, I was pulling a trailer but had to find a safe parking so I can photo this beautiful work of art.
The mural depicts the old Rakaia as it translated to the new Rakaia. It is a town known for farming, and it has a beautiful gorge that I have seen online and intends to visit but haven't done so yet.
With this mural, I am entering for this week's contest, and the artists of the mural is JBFX.

Wo awesome piece of art.
So much details and the depiction of the transition is so well done. People can relate to it.

It's incredible how mural painting carries within itself the dual function of intervening in the space in a contested manner or integrating with it as a narrative and characterizing entity. This is an example of harmonious integration. The visual art that is illustrating and reflecting the space, telling us about its identity. That's magnificent. It's a beautiful street mural you brought us.
Incredible to say the least and the way it is painted clean and beautiful is truly magnificent.
My best form of murals are the one I can relate to. This in one of them.
Thank you π

Really wonderful on how the artists blended multiple eras into one painting, like taking a walk across time, a piece of history that evolved into the present.
The detour was a good one :)
Yes that was a detour that I was happy with. So glad the found such a beautiful mural giving us a glimpse of the past and present.
Thank you bro
