Greetings to all

Yesterday, my friends and i visited the Cagayan de Oro City Museum. Guess what? It was free! Can you believe it? We did not have to pay anything to get in which was super cool we had been planning to go for weeks but were worried about the entrance fee so this was such a nice surprise.

The building itself is really old and pretty. It’s made of stone with big windows and a small courtyard out front. It’s like you can already tell it’s full of history just by looking at it. Inside it was nice and quiet away from all the noise of the city streets outside. The air felt still like we were stepping back in time the moment we walked through the door..

First we checked out the stuff about Cagayan de Oro's history. They had old black and white photos on the walls plus old tools bottles and even letters from way back when. We learned how the city started as a small settlement near the river and how it grew into the busy place it is now. It was interesting to hear about the people who first lived here the farmers, fishermen, and traders and how hard they worked to build everything from scratch. There was even a map showing what the city looked like 100 years ago and it was almost unrecognizable!!

One thing really liked was the display about the "Motorela." You know those motorcycles with the sidecars that zip around the city? They're like the official symbol of Cagayan de Oro. The museum showed how they changed over time from the very first ones that were just basic bikes with a wooden sidecar to the colorful decorated ones we see today. They even had a real old motorela in the middle of the room, and we got to stand next to it and take photos..

We also saw things about the Higaonon people. They are one of the original indigenous groups here in Mindanao and they have lived in the area for thousands of years. The exhibit had their traditional clothes bright woven fabrics with intricate patterns plus tools they use for farming and hunting and even religious artifacts like wooden statues. It gave you a real idea of how they lived and what was important to them things like respecting nature and taking care of their community.

There was also a part with paintings and sculptures by local artists. I was really impressed! They were all so talented and their art showed what it's s like to live in Cagayan de Oro the busy markets the river the mountains and the people. One painting was of a motorela driver smiling at a passenger and it felt so familiar like something you’d see every day.

Walking around i felt really proud of my city. The museum reminded me of all the people who worked hard to make Cagayan de Oro what it is now. It made me want to do my part to help the city keep getting better and to make sure its history and culture don’t get forgotten.

The people who worked there were really nice too. They knew a lot about the museum and were happy to answer our questions even the silly ones we asked. They made us feel welcome and excited to learn more.

Going to the museum made me appreciate Cagayan de Oro even more. I learned a lot and felt more connected to my city than ever before. If you ever have time, you should definitely go! It's a great way to spend a few hours learning about Cagayan de Oro..
