Hive Open Mic week 296/ Higher Ground by Red Hot Chili Peppers [ENG/ESP]

Hello Hive Open Mic friends. I hope you're having a great week. This week, I wanted to do a cover on my electric guitar of a song I loved from the first time I heard it. It's a cover by the American funk band Red Hot Chili Peppers of a song written by Stevie Wonder, which first appeared on his 1973 album, Innervisions. The original version has a funky rhythm, as does the cover, but the Red Hot Chili Peppers' version is much faster, with the guitar more prominent and distorted, giving it a rockier feel. The drums are also more energetic. The Californian band included it on their 1989 album, Mother's Milk, which made it very popular on MTV.

The lyrics of "Higher Ground" talk about the continuous learning cycle we experience in life, war, and the lies of governments. It emphasizes the importance of perseverance and effort, which is why I thought it was an excellent choice for this week's song.

Hola amigos de Hive Open Mic. Espero que tengan una excelente semana. Para esta semana quise hacer un cover en mi guitarra eléctrica de un canción que me gustó mucho desde la primera vez que la escuché. Es un cover que realizó la banda norteamericana de funk Red Hot Chili Peppers de una canción que fue escrita por el cantante Stevie Wonder que apareció por primera vez en su álbum de 1973, Innervisions. La versión original tiene bastante funk en el ritmo al igual que el cover, pero la de Red Hot Chili Peppers es mucho más rápida y sobresale más la guitarra con la distorsión haciéndola más rockera, al igual que la batería es más enérgica. La banda californiana la incluyó en su álbum de 1989 Mother's Milk, la hizo muy popular en el canal de MTV.

La letra de 'Higher Ground' habla sobre el ciclo continuo de aprendizaje que tenemos en la vida, la guerra, las mentiras de los gobiernos. Enfatiza la importancia de la perseverancia y el esfuerzo por lo que me pareció una excelente elección para el tema de esta semana.
