Ali's way of enjoying luck is channelled to his knowledge of playing games and cutting corners.
He met Mr Thomas, who interviewed him for an internship that he had never prepared for as usual. He went to Mr Thomas to bribe him, not knowing Mr Thomas is a modest man.

Those who live by hook and crook always believe others are the same and can be bribed. Hopefully, Ali learned a valuable lesson when his tactics didn't work in that instance that may have caused him his future livelihood. Sometimes luck fails us when something of value slips from our hands due to foolishness.

This is one thing I have come to realise in life.
People who lie think that everyone lies like the them, making them have serious trust issues.
Same with other characters.
