Week 3 : The Hive Garden QOTW : Good harvest gladdens the heart.
Hello, everyone.
Welcome to my blog.
This is my entry to week 3 of The Hive Garden QOTW.
I was so opportuned to be born into a family that loves gardening.
So, I grew up knowing a lot about planting, nurturing, weeding, and harvesting various plants and crops.
And we did it as one large family, making it more fun and pleasant.
In as much as farming sounds so fun to lots of people out there,it is not easy.
Especially when there is a large farmland with fewer labour, but when it comes to gardening in a small place.
It is so much more fun and enjoyable, and the outcome is always amazing.
A positive and rewarding outcome gladdens the heart.
I remember when i was little, my mom encouraged us to have our own small garden and make sure we are able to harvest something handful and meaningful from it.
We all came back with goodness and lots of harvested crops like corn, melons, pumpkin leaves, and okra.
Yes, I thought then that I have known all about farming until now I am grown.
I am learning a lot of gardening techniques from people across the globe.
Even in my country, I learned a significant thing about gardening in a defined area.
For example, where I am currently serving, which would be the main focus of my write-up.
I grew up in the eastern part of the country, now serving in the southern part of the country.
I learnt they start their planting season on time, and I could say they are the ones that do a good work with gardening.
I watched flooding came to the land and everywhere dried up after some weeks.
Then, they immediately started planting.
The land was already cleared as a result of the flood, so they tilled the ground and planted various crops.
I was worried about the plants and how they were going to survive without any rainfall.
[This is the river they get the water to water the plants twice daily, morning and evening]
They told me that isn't an issue as they water the plants twice a day.
The river is kinda close to the garden, so they get water from the river and water the plants.
Alas, the crops grew well, greenish and healthy.
They started harvesting cucumbers, spinach, and pumpkin leaves early.
They replanted the worn-out ones and continued the cycle.
It was so amazing to watch and learn.
The dedication is topnotch, not missing out on watering and removing weeds from disturbing the crops made me appreciate them more and the beauty of gardening.

Learning from others really helps us be better gardeners ourselves. It certainly seems very important to your family's subsistence.

Congratulations on your crop!

wow! Crazy how good the yield looks when you look at how initially the soil looked. That is a lucky situation with the river over there. For some reason it just feels so good growing your own food right?

A clear example of little beginnings.
