Hello Everyone

This is my entry to real talk contest.

This question for write is......

Does money really change people or just reveal who they already are?

Without even thinking hard on this I will give a straight up answer.
Money doesn't change people in any way, it just reveals who they already are.

As a matter of fact nothing new changes a person, it is still that person in a version you are not familiar with.

I had a friend back then in university.
He struggled to pay through school, during that period I was his best friend and we communicated, shared lots of things in common.
He was humble and nice, of course borrowed from me sometimes.
But one thing I noticed then was his unmatched pride whenever it comes to borrowing money from me.
I noticed that whenever he borrows money and it's time for him to pay up, he is rude towards it.
Finding ways to channel any movement to you insulting him because he borrowed money from you, and forcing you to tell him to forget about returning the money.

When he was done with university, he was blessed with a good job, money started coming.
His pride grew.
I was writing my final year project then, and needed some assistance from him.
He could make a big fuzz about giving me some money, he could make me cry and give a million reasons for the money before he gives it.
It wasn't as if he didn't have the money, because he was living large.
I tried to advise him to invest and monitor how he lavish his money trying to belong to the big boys association.
Of course, he ignored me and saw reasons to unfriend me because I wasn't in his league.
He could ignore my calls, chat and wouldn't return any calls or chat from me during his rich period.

Money totally revealed his stingy self, nasty, high taste, pride, misuse and an opportunist nature.

I don't know what happened to him later on, he lost his job and became so broke.
I wasn't struggling with providing for myself, when he came back asking for monetary help from me.

Of course, his character didn't change though he forced himself to be humble because he needed something.

If I didn't really look out for all this little signs, I would have said money changed him.
Money didn't change him in any way.
Money revealed this true nature totally.

Most ladies are always advised to check when their man has money and when he doesn't to be sure they are in for real lifetime commitment.

In most cases one wouldn't really see a person's true self when they don't have money.
But when we look closely, the signs would be there either with or without money.
Money didn't change the person, it just revealed what we couldn't see.

Thank you very much for visiting my blog 🥰

Do enjoy the rest of your day.

Wow i learn so much from this.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts 💭 this was so detailed. Imagine him coming back. Where is his sense of human. At least a little shame would do after how pride and ego covered his sense of reasoning forgetting money is just a visitor. It will come and go.☺️☺️☺️

Indeed, he lacks shame.
That's just who he is.

Wow 😲 nice story 😃
With this same reason I can agree with you that money doesn't change someone instead it reviews more about the person. Thank you for sharing such experience with us.

This is from another angle too.
This one had pride in him already which he was displaying even when the money was not there yet. And when money came, it reached its peak.

I saw the pride because I wanted to.
I could have easily said it was frustration that led him to act that way.

The signs aren't always obvious but if we look closely we'll see the characters they'll exhibit when money finally comes

See people that guilt trip you.. they’re the worst and I can’t stand them. It really does reveal what we couldn’t see

That's just the simple truth. Some people are just good at hiding their true identity because they are actually broke but once they start making that money they begin to show their true colours.

When the word of God in the Bible admonished us to "test all spirits...", I'm sure money is one of them. What money has caused on this earth eh, it's worst than earthquake.

Whoever is bad, even as a pauper will still be when they make money. It's in the blood and money only helped reveal who they truly are.

This was a nice read.
