Yesterday, and even into the early hours of today, there were some tectonic movements of considerable intensity in the central-western region of my country (Venezuela)... If you've seen the news, you may have heard that there were more than 20 earthquakes, some between 6 and 7 on the Richter Scale and others were lighter aftershocks... Here in my town (Montalbán) we are relatively far from the epicenter of these earthquakes, but close enough that all of them were easily felt by people... People are scared, and I noticed this earlier today on the streets. Even at home, my wife, mother, and daughter slept in more external areas of our houses and with the doors open to make it easier to move outside in case of new aftershocks. I, for my part, slept in my bedroom along with two of our seven cats (the other five shared the precautions taken by my wife, mother, and daughter 😼😐)...

Ayer, e incluso hasta la madrugada de hoy, ocurrieron algunos movimientos tectónicos de considerable intensidad en la región centro occidental de mi país (Venezuela)... Sí han visto las noticias, es posible que se hayan enterado que fueron más de 20 sismos, algunos de entre 6 y 7 en la Escala de Richter y otros eran réplicas más leves... Aquí en mi pueblo (Montalbán) estamos relativamente lejos del epicentro de estos movimientos telúricos, pero lo suficientemente cerca como para que todos hayan sido percibidos fácilmente por las personas... La gente está asustada y esto lo percibí hoy temprano en las calles. Incluso en mi casa, mi esposa, mi madre y mi hija durmieron en áreas más externas de nuestras casas y con las puertas abiertas para facilitar el moverse al exterior en caso de nuevas réplicas. Yo, por mi parte, dormí en mi habitación junto con dos de nuestros siete gatos (los otros cinco compartieron las precauciones tomadas por mi esposa, mi madre y mi hija 😼😐)...

I went out for a walk and a little exercise, but I didn't have my camera with me. So these photographs I'm sharing with you today are from days gone by, and most of them are selected from sequences of two, three, or more continuous photos. I focused on using the photos I hadn't yet edited or published within those sequences and on capturing them in vertical format. They're also photos from these September mornings, many of which have been filled with fog covering the town streets and the rest of the valley as well. From time to time, I like to make selections, because in a sequence or burst of photos, there may be images that, although similar in terms of their elements, generate a different type of visual interest from one photo to the next.

Salí a la calle a caminar y a ejercitarme un poco, pero no llevé mi cámara conmigo. Así que estas fotografías que estoy compartiendo hoy con ustedes, son fotos de días pasados y la mayoría son fotos seleccionadas de secuencias de dos, tres o más fotos continuas. Me enfoqué en usar las fotos que aún no había editado ni publicado dentro de esas secuencias y en que estas fuesen capturas en formato en vertical. También son fotos de estas mañanas de Septiembre, muchas de las cuales han estado repletas de niebla cubriendo las calles del pueblo y también el resto del valle. De vez en cuando me gusta hacer selecciones, porque en una secuencia o una ráfaga de fotos, pueden haber imágenes que, aunque similares en cuanto a sus elementos, generan un tipo de interés visual diferente entre una y otra foto.

Obviously, when I went out on the streets today, the people I met stopped me and talked about their sleepless night due to the earthquakes. Some even put forward some crazy theories, ranging from the use of some kind of "earthquake-generating device" by foreign forces, to those who spoke of "divine punishment," and even those who claimed it all had to do with "heat caused by climate change" 😐... I could only nod my head in agreement in most cases and try to continue my morning walk as soon as possible... This is a small town, you know that thanks to my posts, and also "local fables and legends" are commonplace among its inhabitants. So, this thing about "earth tremors one after another" immediately becomes part of the local anecdote and serves to leave behind - at least for a while - the rumors of war conflicts, the new inflationary spiral, the power cuts and the apparently imminent new stage of scarcity that is coming 😐... What is something worthy of thanking divine providence and also of being happy, is that: Despite the fact that there have been so many recent earthquakes and they have been relatively intense, there have been no confirmed human losses nor major material losses 🙏...

Obviamente, cuando hoy salí a las calles, las personas que encontré me detenían y hablaban de su maña noche sin dormir debido a los temblores de tierra. Incluso algunos exponían teorías un poco locas las cuales iban desde el uso de algún tipo de "dispositivo generador de terremotos" por parte de fuerzas extrajeras, hasta aquellos que hablaban de "castigo divino", pasando por los que aseguraban que todo tiene que ver con "el calor causado por el cambio climático" 😐... Yo solo pude asentir con mi cabeza en la mayoría de los casos e intentar seguir con mi caminata matutina lo antes posible... Este es un pueblo pequeño, ustedes lo saben gracias a mis publicaciones, y también el las "fabulas y leyendas locales" son cosa cotidiana entre sus habitantes. Entonces, esto de los "temblores de tierra uno tras de otro" pasa de inmediato a convertirse en parte del anecdotario local y sirve para dejar atrás -cuando menos durante algún tiempo- los rumores de conflictos bélicos, la nueva espiral inflacionaria, los cortes de electricidad y la al parecer inminente nueva etapa de escasez que se avecina 😐... Lo que sí es algo digno de agradecer a la providencia divina y también para alegrarse, es que: A pesar de ser tantos los recientes sismos y relativamente intensos, no se han tenido perdidas y humanas confirmadas ni tampoco grandes perdidas materiales 🙏...
