Well, we're already on the cusp of another December, and my walks through the streets are once again accompanied by a certain wonder and admiration for the capacity of people in the poorest neighborhoods to find joy and try to make the most of this time of year. So it's no surprise that some streets, once overflowing with trash, are starting to become a little cleaner and decorated with Christmas decorations, mostly made from recycled materials. Clearly, many people here refuse to let the severe economic crisis get them down and try to find some joy with their families during this time. We're talking about households whose net monthly income can be as low as $10 and where they depend on food subsidies and government assistance for most expenses. Therefore, observing this kind of resilient behavior fills me with admiration and even teaches me to be a little more humane and empathetic towards everyone here. But please continue reading this post and take a look at some of these photographs I recently took in these humble streets, which are already beginning to show early signs of the arrival of the Christmas season...

Bien, ya estamos a las puertas de un nuevo Diciembre y mis caminatas callejeras vuelven una vez más a estar acompañadas por cierto asombro y admiración por la capacidad que tienen las personas en los vecindarios más pobres del pueblo, para alegrarse e intentar pasarla lo mejor posible en estas fechas. Así que no es de extrañar que algunas calles antes repletas de basura, comiencen a estar un poco más limpias y decoradas con algunos motivos navideños construidos la mayoría de las veces con cosas recicladas. Ciertamente, muchas personas aquí no se dejan vencer por la severa crisis económicas y procuran tener algo de alegría en familia estos días. Estamos hablando de hogares cuyo ingreso neto mensual puede ser tan bajo como 10$ y en donde dependen de los subsidios alimentarios y bonificaciones gubernamentales para la mayoría de los gastos. Por lo tanto, observar este tipo de comportamiento resiliente es algo que me llena de admiración e incluso me enseña a ser un poco más humano y empático con todos aquí. Pero por favor, continúen adelante en esta publicación y observen algunas de estas fotografías hechas recientemente por mi en estas calles humildes, las cuales comienza a dar ya incipientes señales de la llegada de la época navideña...

Not all of these photos have Christmas themes, as the idea is to convey a bit of what the streets are like here and there these days, because I wanted to give a kind of general overview. Taking street photographs is always subject to people's moods, and these moods transform not only the streets but also specific details within them. In fact, much of what I observe in these streets on the outskirts of town doesn't even happen in a remotely similar way in the central neighborhoods like the one I live in. Never, as far back as I can remember, have our neighbors gotten together to decorate our street, much less to share moments together during this time of year. So perhaps this greatly influences my perception when I look at what's happening in these places whose photos I've brought today to share with you on #Hive...

No todas estas fotos contienen motivos navideños, pues la idea es transmitir un poco de como están las calles aquí y allá estos días, porque quise transmitir esa especie de descripción general de esto. Y es que hacer fotografías callejeras es algo que siempre te supedita al ánimo de las personas uy este ánimo transforma no solo las calles sino también algunos detalles puntuales en ellas... En realidad mucho de lo que observo en estas calles en las márgenes del pueblo, no ocurre siquiera de manera más o menos similar en los vecindarios del centro como en el que yo vivo. Nunca, desde que tengo uso de razón, los vecinos nos hemos puesto de acuerdo para adornar nuestra calle y mucho menos para compartir momentos juntos en estas fechas. Así que quizás esto influye bastante en mi percepción a la hora de mirar lo que sucede en estos lugares cuyas fotos traje hoy para compartir en #Hive con ustedes...

The neighborhoods on the outskirts of town will be getting more festively decorated with lights and other makeshift decorations over the next few days. I might explore some of them in the afternoons and take some photos, and also spend time with the cheerful and friendly people who live here, many of whom appear in my street-walking photos throughout the year. I'll try to do that and share those experiences with you here on #Hive...

Los vecindarios en las orillas del pueblo se irán vistiendo estos próximos días con más lucecitas y otros adornos improvisados. Yo quizás exploraré algunos en las horas de la tarde y hacer algunas fotos, y también para compartir con estas personas alegres y amistosas que viven aquí, muchas de las cuales aparecen en las fotos de mis recorridos callejeros todo el año.
