I like taking macro photographs, and I like it not only because of the excitement of this type of photography in itself; I also like it because of the feeling of exploring another world (a very small but fascinating one) through the lens of a camera... In small natural spaces this sensation grows exponentially, because in addition to the shapes, textures and colours, there is the presence of very small creatures, some of which seem to be looking at us with their strange compound eyes...

Me gusta hacer macro fotografías, y me gusta no solo por lo apasionante de este tipo de fotos en sí mismas; también me gusta por la sensación que se tiene de estar explorando otro mundo (uno muy pequeño pero fascinante) a través del lente de una cámara... En los pequeños espacios naturales esta sensación crece de manera exponencial, porque se suman a las formas, texturas y colores, la presencia de criaturas muy pequeñas, algunas de las cuales parecen estar mirándonos con sus extraños ojos compuestos...

I don't usually go to nature to take macro pictures and then think just about the result of the photograph. No, that would be too "normal" for a guy like me, better known as "the crazy guy with the camera in hand" in this small town where I live. So, when I'm out in nature, I observe everything and I talk, and when I say "talk" I mean I talk to those things and creatures I'm going to photograph. I like to talk to dry leaves, flowers and branches and treat them as if they were little works of art with some kind of elemental consciousness (that's what they are to me, anyway)... When it comes to small creatures such as flies, spiders, butterflies and others, then the matter is more complex, because somehow I sense that they understand spanish language and the conversations are usually more nourished, because I feel that they answer me telepathically... And the best of all this is to watch the face of someone passing by those country roads and seeing me talking crouched or kneeling down with "God knows what"!!!.... Hahaha :))... But I think that's part of what's nice here, in this macro shooting in nature....

No suelo ir a la naturaleza a hacer fotos macro y entonces pensar solamente en el resultado de la fotografía. No, eso sería alfo demasiado "normal" para un tipo como yo, mejor conocido como: "El loco con la cámara en la mano" en este pequeño y pueblo en donde habito. Entonces, cuando estoy en la naturaleza, observo todo y hablo, y cuando digo "hablo" me refiero a que hablo con aquellas cosas y criaturas a las cuales voy a fotografiar. Me gusta conversar con las hojas secas, las flores y las ramas y tratarles como si fuesen pequeñas obras de arte con algún tipo de consciencia elemental (en fin, para mi son eso)... En lo que respecta a pequeñas criaturas como moscas, arañas, mariposas y otros, entonces el asunto es más complejo, pues de alguna manera intuyo que comprenden español y las conversaciones suelen ser más nutridas, pues siento que me responden de manera telepática... ¡Y lo mejor de todo esto es observar el rostro de alguien pasando por esos caminos campestres y viéndome hablar agachado o hincado con "Dios sabe que cosa"!!!... Hahaha :))... Pero pienso que eso es parte de lo agradable aquí, en esto de hacer fotos macro en la naturaleza...

Taking macro photographs is also an activity that makes me think in a spiritual way, coming to the conclusion that behind all this fantastic range of shapes and tiny creatures, there is a common and omnipresent intelligence and/or consciousness... Making macros today, takes me back to my first years taking pictures, when I started this as an entertainment, more like a therapy recommended by a psychologist that I attended due to a work stress issue... Then, soon after I started, I started taking pictures of insects and flowers, since then taking pictures took on a more introspective character for me. That is something that persists today and even increases.

Hacer macro fotografías es también una actividad que me hace pensar de manera espiritual, llegando a la conclusión de que detrás de toda esta fantástica gama de formas y criaturas diminutas, existe una inteligencia y/o consciencia común y omnipresente... Hacer macros hoy en día, me lleva a mis primeros años haciendo fotos, cuando comencé esto como un entretenimiento, más bien una terapia recomendada por un psicólogo al cual asistí por un tema de estrés laboral... Entonces, al poco tiempo de comenzar, comencé a tomar fotos de insectos y flores, desde entonces el hecho de hacer fotos tomó un carácter más introspectivo para mi. Eso es algo que hoy persiste e incluso se incrementa.

ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL NOTE: Photographs captured with my Nikon D7000 DSLR camera in RAW format, then processed in Adobe Camera RAW for adjustments regarding light, sharpening, contrast and depth... They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape 3.6.3.

NOTA TÉCNICA ADICIONAL: Fotografías capturadas con mi cámara DSLR Nikon D7000 en formato RAW, procesadas posteriormente en Adobe Camera RAW para ajustes relativos a luz, afilado, contraste y profundidad... Luego fueron exportadas a formato JGP sobre el cual se llevaron a cabo modificaciones menores como enderezado y agregado de marcas de agua usando PhotoScape 3.6.3.
