Hello #Hive visual friends!... Today I wanted to share with you some of my most recent macro and close-up work in nature... As you know, I try to go back and forth between the abstract and the precise on a constant basis when I do this kind of photography, so this series of pictures clearly expresses this... Let's go for the pictures then, which is the most important thing here!...

¡Hola amigos visuales de #Hive!... Hoy quise compartir con ustedes algunos de mis más recientes trabajos de fotografías macro y acercamientos en la naturaleza... Como ustedes saben, trato de ir y venir entre lo abstracto y preciso de manera constante cuando hago este tipo de fotos, así que esta serie de fotografías exprese muy a las claras esto... ¡Vamos a por las fotos entonces, lo cual es lo más importante aquí!...

What could be called as: My very ‘spartan’ way of shooting macros and close-ups in nature, is becoming more and more attached to my small Nikon AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8d FX lens with a Raynox DCR-150 close-up lens... Moreover, this time at least, I have used the semi-automatic aperture mode (P) on my camera and ended up simplifying more and more my technique for this kind of photos... I could sum things up by saying that: For the ‘close-ups’ I use an f/1.8 aperture (the maximum of this nice lens) and for the macros I place the Raynox lens and close the diaphragm a bit more... The rest I focus manually as close as possible and -of course- adopting absurdly uncomfortable positions while holding my breath to the rhythm of insect bites and inhuman heat and humidity... But this is nice to do like this! ;)

Esto que podría llamarse como: Mi muy "espartana" manera de hacer macros y acercamientos en la naturaleza, se apega cada vez más a mi pequeño lente Nikon AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8d FX acompañado con una lentilla de acercamiento Raynox DCR-150... Además, esta vez cuando menos, he usado el modo semi-automático de apertura (P) en mi cámara y terminado por simplificar cada vez más mi técnica para este tipo de fotos... Podría resumir las cosas diciendo que: Para los "acercamientos" uso una apertura f/1.8 (la máxima de este simpático lente) y para los macros coloco la lentilla Raynox y cierro un poco más el diafragma... El resto lo hago enfocando manualmente lo más cerca posible y -por supuesto- adoptando posturas absurdamente incomodas mientras aguanto mi respiración al compás de picaduras de insectos y calor y humedad inhumanos... ¡Pero esto es lindo de hacer así! ;)

This is not a lens with automatic stabilisation, so I have to make some conscious effort to avoid shake as I do all this with the camera held handheld. However proper ISO management and my obsessive habit for using very wide apertures, allows me to achieve pretty decent results in my opinion. Perhaps the sharpness is slightly less with my 50mm compared to my 100mm macro lens, but this is compensated quite efficiently by processing the RAW images and sharpening them in this format (I use Adobe Camera Raw generally)... In fact, I feel very comfortable processing the RAWs of my photos taken with the 50mm lens...

Este no es un lente con estabilización automática, así que debo hacer algún esfuerzo consciente por evitar trepidaciones ya que hago todo esto con la cámara sostenida a pulso. Sin embargo la adecuada gestión del OSO y mi obsesa manía por usar aperturas de diafragma muy amplias, me permite logar resultados bastante decentes en mi opinión. Quizás la nitidez es levemente menos con mi 50mm si lo comparo con mi lente macro de 100mm, pero esto se compensa de manera bastante eficiente procesando las imágenes RAW y afilando estas en este formato (uso Adobe Camera Raw generalmente)... De hecho, me siento muy cómodo procesando los RAW de mis fotos hechas con el lente 50mm...

ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL NOTE: Photographs captured with my Nikon D7000 DSLR camera in RAW format, then processed in Adobe Camera RAW for adjustments regarding light, sharpening, contrast and depth... They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape 3.6.3.

NOTA TÉCNICA ADICIONAL: Fotografías capturadas con mi cámara DSLR Nikon D7000 en formato RAW, procesadas posteriormente en Adobe Camera RAW para ajustes relativos a luz, afilado, contraste y profundidad... Luego fueron exportadas a formato JGP sobre el cual se llevaron a cabo modificaciones menores como enderezado y agregado de marcas de agua usando PhotoScape 3.6.3.
