Looking at the streets of my town lately, I find them more diverse, more “random” you could say. And by this I mean that they reflect more than ever the complexity of what is happening here and how this small town adapts as best it can to the political, social, economic and other problems that affect us here... So this can be seen in its streets, and that's how I perceive and understand it... I suppose this is a slightly more complicated place than average for taking street photos. But I also suppose that this is how other towns like this one in my country are nowadays, and even small cities... They are places where from one street to another the colors change, the movement changes, even the lights and sounds change... Here in this selection of photos I wanted to convey something of that; of that “random town” that I have at my disposal every day to wander around and observe...

Mirando las calles de mi pueblo últimamente, las encuentro más diversas, más "aleatorias" también podría decirse. Y con esto me refiero al hecho de que reflejan más que nunca la complejidad de lo que aquí sucede y de como este pequeño pueblo se amolda como puede a los problemas políticos, sociales, económicos y de cualquier otra índole que nos afectan aquí... Entonces esto se ve en sus calles y así lo percibo y entiendo yo... Supongo que este es un lugar un poco más complicado que el promedio para hacer fotos callejeras. Pero también supongo que es así como actualmente son otros pueblos como este en mi país, e incluso pequeñas ciudades... Son lugares en donde de una calle a otra cambian los colores, cambia el movimiento, cambian incluso hasta las luces y los sonidos... Aquí en esta selección de fotos quise transmitir algo de eso; de ese "pueblo aleatorio" que tengo a mi disposición diariamente para deambular y observar...

These photos are more about streets seen and photographed using focal lengths that allow me a wide angle of view. This is how I can include more elements at once in each visual frame. And when I say all this, I don't mean it merely as a technical observation, no. I also mean it as an explanation of a necessary expressive resource. Because in these streets of mine, every little thing that appears before my eyes says something new, in its own way. Even the weather plays an important role in this constantly changing visual landscape that I traverse almost daily. That's why in my street photography portfolio you can see everything from such improbable things as a root piercing the pavement, to wide shots like these where the feeling when looking at them is perhaps that of "standing there, understanding what you're seeing"...

Esta fotos van más de calles vistas y fotografiadas usando distancias focales que me permitan una ángulo ancho de registro. Es entonces así como puedo incluir mayor cantidad de elementos de una misma vez en cada plano visual. Y al decir todo esto no lo hago únicamente como un señalamiento técnico, no. Lo digo también como un la explicación de un recurso de expresión necesario. Porque en estas calles mías, cada pequeña cosa que aparece ante mis ojos dice algo nuevo y a su manera. Incluso el clima juega un papel importante en este constantemente cambiante planisferio visual que recorro casi a diario. Es por eso que en mi portafolio fotográfico callejero, pueden ver desde cosas tan inverosímiles como una raíz perforando la calzada, hasta planos abiertos como estos en donde la sensación al mirarlos sea quizás la de "estar de pie allí, entendiendo aquello que se mira"...

If I remember correctly, I think I started taking these kinds of photos more than fifteen years ago, thinking things like, "Wow, I really want to do this, but maybe there's hardly anything beautiful here to photograph"... But it wasn't long before I felt downright ecstatic photographing the almost always messy chaos of these streets that I now consider my own... I have a story behind all of this, and I like to share it with you in sync with my moods; that's something I've loved discovering here on #Hive...

Si mal no recuerdo, creo haber comenzado a hacer este tipo de fotos hace más de quince años y pensando cosas como "Cielos, quiero hacer esto, pero quizás no haya casi nada bonito aquí para fotografiar"... Pero, no pasó demasiado tiempo antes de que me sintiera francamente extasiado fotografiando del caos casi siempre desprolijo de estas calles que ahora entiendo como mías... Tengo una historia en todo esto, y me gusta contarla a ustedes al compás de mis humores, eso es algo que me ha encantado encontrar aquí en #Hive...
