FROM MY MAY STREETS - MONOMAD - Photography from Montalbán, Carabobo St., Venezuela (14 pics)
May is still a month too long, or at least that's how many people here in our town perceive it... The constant downpours interspersed with a few hours of good weather, make the time stretch out in a strange way... The streets reflect a lot of what I am telling you. The humidity seems to become a constant part of what can be observed in the daily streetscape... These are some of my photographs taken in the last three weeks, are pictures taken at different hours, but it seems to me that they more or less reflect the perception I have of my streets these days...
As you look at these pictures you will notice that they are photos captured in horizontal format with the 4:6 ratio native to my camera. They are those kind of photos with a relatively wide angle of capture and they are those photos which I usually call “approaching photos” which I usually take when I am getting closer to a place where I know I can capture more intimate and closer details... I also call them “leaving photos” when I take them after I have taken several more specific shots of something specific and then proceed to leave the place behind ...
It is good for me when, because I am unable due to the weather to go to the streets and take new photos, I am forced to look through my recent archives and find these types of photos. Otherwise, I might run the risk of leaving some of these photos unedited and unshared. And, to be honest, I find a “very natural and spontaneous me” when I look at these photos, because these are very instinctive captures, which I usually take without thinking too much previously...
In fact, in relation to what I said previously, I have not titled any of these photographs because perhaps all of them could be called “My May streets”... These are simple photos, basic if you will, these are just the street happening by itself without any interpretation on my part. I can say that most of these photos happen when I observe something interesting in the distance and I decide to shoot immediately in obedience to a strange need to document how I observed something before approaching...

Does it always a constant downpour where you are? We find it pretty strange here to have rain on May. I'd expect no rain around here but yes, May feels pretty long.
Yes... The rainy season came early this year, it usually starts in mid-May, but this year it has rained since the last week of March... Yes, it rains almost every day here these months, even July-August tends to be the months with the greatest rainfall... The days have felt very long here lately, the rain affects everything, it's a small town, you can more easily notice the slowdown in people's activity because of that, I suppose... And there is still a long time until the dry months arrive, it is usually in October when the dry season begins! 😒...
Hola buen día.
Me encantó esta foto.
Está genial para uno de mis cuentos.

Come get MOONed!
It raining here too in my city, Lagos.
Rain is good sometimes, especially after a drought and for planting... But sometimes in our regions (I think Lagos, Nigeria, has a tropical climate similar to ours in northern Venezuela) it tends to be "too much too soon" 😂... Thanks for stopping by and commenting @graclyn friend!
You are welcome! And you are right about it being too much too soon.. Have a lovely day.
