I can often be quite a laid-back guy 😁 and today was precisely one of those days when I didn't have much to do. So, after a light lunch (delicious ripe tomatoes fried with lots of garlic and oregano, accompanied by ricotta cheese and cassava bread called "casabe" here), I grabbed my camera and decided to go out and take some pictures in the streets of the town, which is preparing for the celebration of its patron saint's day (Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception) this coming Monday, December 8th. So, starting this afternoon, people are beginning to feel cheerful and ready to celebrate the weekend to the fullest. This is the context for these photos and how I decided to go out into the streets to do this...

Con mucha frecuencia puedo ser un tipo bastante desocupado 😁 y hoy precisamente es uno de esos días en los que no me abundan las cosas para hacer. Así qué, después de un almuerzo ligero (deliciosos tomates maduros fritos con muchísimo ajo y orégano, acompañados con quero riccota y pan de yuca llamado aquí "casabe"), tomé mi cámara y decidí salir a hacer algunas fotografías en las calles del pueblo, el cual se prepara para la celebración del día de su Sata Patrona (La Virgen de la Inmaculada) el venidero Lunes 08 de Diciembre, así que desde hoy en horas de la tarde, las personas comienzan a sentirse alegres y dispuestas para celebrar durante el fin de semana lo mejor posible. Así qué, este es el contexto de estas fotos y la manera en la cual decidí ir a las calles a hacer esto...

In reality, today the celebrations for our patron saint's day are not as long-lasting or joyful as they were until the end of the last century; the local economy has shrunk dramatically and the municipality's funds no longer seem to be enough to practically paralyze the town for a week as in years past. But despite all this, people rejoice again every year in the days leading up to December 8 and try to have as good a time as possible. So in a way, it's something that improves everyday street life, and you can already start to see it from this friday afternoon...

En realidad, hoy por hoy las celebraciones por del día del nuestra patrona no son tan duraderas ni alegres como hasta finales del siglo pasado; la economía del local se ha reducido drásticamente y el dinero de la municipalidad ya no parece ser suficiente para prácticamente paralizar el pueblo durante una semana como en años pasados. Pero a pesar de todo esto, las personas se vuelven a alegrar cada año los días antes del 08 de Diciembre y procuran pasarlo lo mejor posible. Así que de alguna manera, es algo que mejora la cotidianidad callejera y ya comienza a verse desde la tarde de hoy viernes...
