Hello monochromatic #Hive friends, welcome to a new edition of my black and white street photography series " Exposed Gaze"... The past month of December and the days that have run from January until today, have been very fruitful from a photographic point of view. So I have my hard drives with many recent photos to share with you as I do today. And -obviously- for my photographic works to be part of the #monomad challenge as is the case of this publication.

Hola amigos monocromáticos de #Hive, bienvenidos a una nueva edición de mio serie de fotografías callejeras en blanco y negro "Mirada Expuesta"... El pasado mes de Diciembre y los días que han corrido de Enero hasta hoy, han sido muy fructíferos desde el punto de vista fotográfico. Así que tengo mis discos duros con muchas fotos recientes para compartir con ustedes tal como lo hago hoy. Y -obviamente- para que mis fotografías formen parte del reto #monomad tal como es el caso de de esta publicación.

"But that's not Juan"/_{"Pero ese no es Juan"}

Juan died 6 or 7 years ago. He was a humble man and lived alone, he used to wander around the streets asking for something to eat and people helped him... But this towns are really strange places, because in the last few days I have seen this man wandering around dressed very similar to Juan, he even carries a cane and a bag in his hand, he also knocks on the doors of the houses and asks for help with his sustenance. I don't know his name, but what is certain is that he looks as if he is a "new Juan" wandering through our streets and with a very similar attire to the first one.

Juan murió 6 o 7 años atrás. Era un hombre humilde y vivía solo, acostumbraba a deambular por las calles pidiendo algo de comer y la gente le ayudaba... Pero estos pueblos son lugares realmente extraños, pues en días pasados he visto deambular a este hombre vestido de forma muy similar a Juan, incluso lleva un bastón y una bolsa en su mano, también toca las puertas de las casas y pide que le ayuden con sus sustento. No sé su nombre, pero lo cierto es que que luce como si fuera un "nuevo Juan" deambulando por nuestras calles y con un atuendo muy similar al primero.

"Collage with old house"/_{"Collage con casa vieja"}

"Poncho"/_"Poncho"

The old house built below street level is still there. It is surrounded by a newer building and also by century-old trees. It is a very strange thing to walk down the street and be able to see the top of the roof. But that house is a remnant of past village, before the streets were re-done and asphalted... Also a few metres away, the old dog called "Poncho" looks at me while lying in the middle of the fog-shrouded streets. I think I have seen this dog for more than a decade when are a puppy and he roamed the streets. He has had a adoptive home for many years now, but it is still a common sight to find him lying on the streets from time to time. It seems he never forgot his street habits after all.

La vieja casa construida por debajo del nivel da la calle, sigue allí. Está rodeada por una construcción más nueva y también por arboles centenarios. Es algo muy extraño ir por la calle y poder ver la parte alta de su techado. Pero esa casa es un remanente de como era el pueblo antes de que las calles fueran rehechas y asfaltadas... También a pocos metros de allí el viejo perro llamado "Poncho" me mira mientras está echado en medio de la calles envuelta en nieblas. Creo que he visto este perro desde hace más de una década cuando eras un cachorro y deambulaba por las calles. Desde hace muchos años ya tiene un hogar adoptivo, pero sigue siendo algo común encontrarlo tumbado en las calles de vez en cuando. Parece que nunca olvidó sus costumbres callejeras después de todo.

"Always this place"/_{"Siempre ese lugar"}

"They always there"/_{"Siempre ellos allí"}

I take dozens of photos per year in that place where this old vehicle sits abandoned on the street in a really deplorable state. It's a downright ugly place, it has drama, the people who live there are not exactly friendly and seem to take absolute pleasure in making everything on that street look absolutely scruffy. However, as you can see, it's a place that always produces eloquent photos... And on the other hand, the streets are still full of stray dogs. I wonder how many pictures with dogs I will take in 2024...? They are always an important part of my street photography repertoire.

Hago docenas de fotos al año en ese lugar en donde este viejo vehículo abandonado en la calles y en estado realmente deplorable. Es un lugar francamente feo, tiene drama, las personas que viven allí no son precisamente amables y parecen tener un absoluto placer por hacer que todo en esa calle luzca absolutamente desaliñado. Sin embargo, como pueden ver, es un lugar que siempre produce fotos elocuentes... Y por otra parte, las calles siguen repletas de perro callejeros. Me pregunto ¿Cuantas fotos con perros haré en 2024?... Siempre forman parte importante de mi repertorio fotográfico callejero.

"The Drummer Boy"/_{"El tamborilero"}

I took several photos of this traditional group of musicians during December. I found this picture of one of the drummers very eloquent. It is curious, but while he was playing his drum, he was reciting at the same time allegorical phrases about the people of the village and their stories. It seems to me that he was the most picturesque character of all those who made up the group of musicians.

Hice varias fotos de este grupo de músicos tradicionales durante el mes de Diciembre. Es la época del año en la cual están más activos y fue algo muy agradable hacer fotos mientras recorrían las calles del pueblo. Esta de uno de los tamborileros me pareció muy elocuente. Es curioso, pero mientras tocaba su tambor, iba recitando al mismo tiempo frases alegóricas a personas del pueblo y sus historias. Me parece que era el personaje más pintoresco de todos los que conformaban el grupo de músicos.

"Lina cooking" /_{"Lina cocinando"}

Lina is another "frequent guest" in my photographic publications. She is a friendly, easy-going, eloquent, cheerful person and always gives me a cup of excellent hot coffee when I pass by her street while I am taking photos. In return Lina always asks me to post her photos on social networks, she doesn't use a mobile phone and doesn't know the internet, but her children and nephews show her the photos and she is delighted to look at them. This is a great pleasure for me in particular, as it gives me a very human view of street photography.

Lina es otra "invitada frecuente" a mis publicaciones fotográficas. Es una persona amable, campechana, elocuente, alegre y siempre me regala una taza de excelente café caliente cuando paso por su calle mientras hago fotos. A cambio Lina siempre me pide que coloque sus fotos en las redes sociales, ella no usa teléfono móvil ni conoce internet, pero sus hijos y sobrinos le muestran las fotos y ella queda encantada al mirarlas. Eso es algo encantado para mi particularmente, pues me regala una visión muy humana de la fotografía callejera.

"Not so funny" /_{"No tan graciosos"}

It is common to see young people during the early hours of Saturday and Sunday mornings, riding through the streets of the village drunk on their motorbikes, usually too fast and shouting foul and incoherent things. Obviously it's not "just alcohol", they have severe behavioural problems. I have nothing against people having fun, but I do find it stupid and questionable that they disturb other people's peace and quiet. Moreover, it is already common for them to have accidents and some have even died because of their recklessness. Unfortunately it is something that is still seen as "normal" by most people and also by the inefficient (or almost non-existent) local authorities.

Es frecuente ver jóvenes durante las primeras horas de la mañana de los sábados y domingos, ir por las calles del pueblo borrachos en sus motocicletas, usualmente demasiado rápido y gritando cosas soeces e incoherencias. Obviamente no se trata de "solo alcohol", ellos tienen problemas de conducta severos. No tengo nada en contra de que la gente se divierta, pero sí me parece algo estúpido y cuestionable el hecho de que ellos perturben tranquilidad de otras personas. Además, ya es algo común que sufran accidentes e incluso algunos han muerto debido a su imprudencia. Lamentablemente es algo que sigue siendo visto como "normal" por la mayoría de las personas y también de las poco eficientes (o casi inexistentes) autoridades locales.

They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape 3.6.3.}

Luego fueron exportadas a formato JGP sobre el cual se llevaron a cabo modificaciones menores como enderezado y agregado de marcas de agua usando PhotoScape 3.6.3.}
