DIGITAL PHOTO TRANSFORMATION - "DUNGEONS"

avatar

Well, it had been months without this kind of thing happening to me: "I go down the street, I observe something, I take some pictures and immediately I get it in my head that this is useful to transform it later into something "abstract" based on several hours sitting at my desk editing in Photoshop and other similar tools... But fortunately it happened again!

This work is based on a couple of street photographs taken on a facade of a house in one of the most disadvantaged areas of the margins in my town. In fact, the name "Dungeons" is due precisely to what came to mind when I saw that facade.

Here is the creation process!

-These are the two base photographs for the work.

-I overlapped and merged both photos to increase the complexity of the visual set.

Z2.jpg

-I took my time distorting the composite image until I liked the way it looked.

Z3.jpg

-I added an oil painting effect to generate textures throughout the image plane.

Z4.jpg

-I created a block template with four sectors and in each of them I placed areas of the main image, trying to keep the grilled windows in the visual field.

Z5.jpg

-I mirrored the image vertically and added areas of a brick orange color to generate working space with a contrasting color.

Z6.jpg

-I proceeded to rotate the image 90° and generate another solid color area.

I distorted the base image using liquefy brushes until I covered all the solid color areas, I also made some changes in the areas where the image segments met as a consequence of having been passed to the four-section template... I was close to leave the image as it is at this point, but suddenly I came up with the following idea to add more abstraction to the visual set...

z8.jpg

I generated this image with a black background, some white lines and a blurred radial filter... And I superimposed and merged it with the previous image!... So that's how I got my final result!

Additional technical note: Base photos taken with a Nikon D7000 DSLR and a Nikon AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8d FX lens. These photos were processed using Adobe Camera RAW and the creative process on the transformed image was performed using Photoshop CS6 and PhotoScape 3.7.

Thank you all very much for stopping by and appreciating... We will see you again soon!
