These are photos taken this morning, December 30th, during a walk through the countryside near my town. The sky dawned overcast, bathing the valley in a soft, uniform, whitish light that noticeably softened the contrasts. This isn't the typical weather we have here at the end of the year, but lately, the weather has become very unpredictable. So it's no surprise that after days of clear blue skies, we've gone to this somewhat gray atmosphere. But these kinds of days are also good for taking photos, so I brought a few to share with you today on #Hive...

Esta son fotografías hechas hoy 30 Diciembre, en horas de la mañana y durante un recorrido por los predios campestres aledaños a mi pueblo. El cielo hoy amaneció encapotado, bañando el valle con una suave luz blanquecina y uniforme, la cual atenuaba los contrastes notablemente. Este no es un tipo de clima común aquí a finales de año, pero últimamente todo aquí se ha vuelto muy impredecible en lo que a climatología se refiere. Así que no es de extrañarse que, de haber tenidos día con cielos azules y despejados, hoy hallamos pasado a tener esta atmósfera un tanto gris. Pero, este tipo de días también son buenos para hacer fotos; así que traje unas cuantas para compartir hoy con ustedes en #Hive...

Things were happening in the countryside today, more slowly than usual. There were people, cows, a few sheep, very few birds, and even a puppy playing at defending its owners' front door. However, there was also that certain feeling of weariness typical here between Christmas and New Year's. It's as if the whole village is trying to cope with the "hangover" from the past holidays and preparing for the ones to come. Something like a "recovery period" in which daily work becomes somewhat tedious, something which is—in my opinion—exacerbated by today's unexpected weather...

Las cosas estaban sucediendo en el campo hoy, más lento que de costumbre. Había personas, había vacas, algunas ovejas, muy pocas aves e incluso algún cachorro jugando a defender la entrada de la casa de sus amos. Sin embargo, también había esa cierta sensación de cansancio típica aquí entre los días de Navidad y los del año nuevo. Es algo como sí el pueblo entero estuviese intentando lidiar con la "resaca" de las fiestas pasadas y preparándose para las venideras. Algo así como un "período de recuperación" en el cual al trabajo cotidiano se hace un tanto pesado, cosa la cual es -a mi juicio- incrementada por este inesperado clima de hoy...

Anyway, it was a good morning for me, and I managed to take lots of photos. I even found a small country path I'd never been on before. It never ceases to amaze me how, after 54 years in this town, I still find new places to explore...

Sea como sea, para mi fue una buena mañana y pude lograr hacer muchas fotos. Incluso, encontré un pequeño sendero rural el cual no había recorrido nunca antes. No me deja de asombrar, como es que después de 54 años en este pueblo, todavía encuentro algunos espacios nuevos para mi...
