He left without a farewell
Every heart wants to be appreciated, especially when we go out of our way to satisfy others. It is true that we should live our lives without expecting much return from those we help.
There is this belief that your application can take like forever before it can be processed or even declared missing in some government organizations. Well, that is true, but ours is not intentional since we had to relocate the office and the internet is yet to be moved. This creates a whole pile of work for operators, which we understand as they use their personal gadgets and data for office work most of the time. Thus, most special offers are made to operators with sympathy, but they are usually kind enough to oblige as work colleagues.
I happened to receive a phone call two weeks ago from my boss’s wife to help out with a registration as her husband was not available to pick up her call. Immediately after I dropped the call, I walked out to the reception to meet the young man who was to do the registration. I received him warmly and ordered the lady in charge to give me a form for the registration, which I handed over to the young man to fill out.
Funny enough, I was the most senior among those in the office, including the operator I took his registration form to. His form received immediate attention from the operator I took it to. An office assistant had offered to take it to the operator for me, but I declined owing to the value I placed on the person who asked me to help out with the registration.
When I returned to my seat, the young man approached me to inform me that caution should be taken while registering his name. I stood up immediately to take him to the operator, but he stated that he should have mentioned it from the onset.
"It’s not my fault. I am only telling you so there won’t be any mistake in my name." The young man replied rudely. At his words, I sat down and saw the angry expressions on the faces of my colleagues who were junior to me in rank. I still messaged the operator on WhatsApp, but perhaps he was done with the registration. Not long after, he brought the form down to the ground floor for payment, which the young man did. All this while, my back was turned at him while I faced my laptop (probably hiving). A receipt was issued to him in that same office, and he was asked to go outside the building to make a photocopy, which he did immediately.
Since he was referred to me, a photocopy could easily be done for him in that office (even though it is not routinely done for clients), yet the angry officer on my behalf gave him that job to do. When he returned, he handed over the photocopy to the staff in charge of the account. Immediately after he was done, he walked out of the office without a farewell, even when I attempted to catch his attention with a gaze.
"Sir, did you not know him before?" a staff member asked me after the young man left.
"No, I was called only to assist him." I replied.
Hearing this response from me, the other staff in the office flared up at the young man’s unruly attitude.
"He is ungrateful! Is it because he does not know your rank? Oga, you are too gentle." One of the staff members lamented, and I smiled and waved it off. I was used to such occurrences. Eventually, I disclosed to my boss what transpired after being persuaded by my staff. My boss was furious and promised me that the young man would come to apologize. My boss's wife also called to apologize, even though I felt it was unnecessary. Personally, I informed my boss only because the junior staff were furious on my behalf.
I get to meet such people, but I have learned not to expect a return for any good that I do.

Many people are rude, and believe that they deserve everything, even more so if they are recommended. It is good that you do things without expecting anything in return, but the least you could expect from a recommended person is to thank you for your efforts. I, being your coworkers, would also be upset with that person... Best regards from Venezuela.
Thank you very much for your kind words. Perhaps not everyone has a mature mind
Oga you self too gentle upon all the wawulence meme you have acquired
I don't have energy for who won't take corrections ni
😀😂😆😄
That is very important never expect anything in return! But sometimes our mind plays tricks and makes us expect lol
Very true, our minds do the tricks
Imagine, see the level of rudeness. If that kind of guy is a senior officer in any establishment chaiii all junior officers are in serious trouble oooo. You are gentle ooo, I will call him back to talk sense to his empty brain, what rubbish😏😏
😂😂😂
My dear, Nigeria is stressing enough to start exchanging words with who is not important
🤣🤣🤣Eyahhhh but that's bad now
There is this negative vibe that comes with doing something and expecting something in return. I love the fact you understand there is no point expecting anything in return. Surprising, in most cases, when we don't expect something in return, that's when we see people being appreciative and grateful.
You're right though, I've considered life as not expecting from anyone
That's just how everyone should.
Imagine someone being so rude to those helping him even to the point were your subordinate can not take it, it shows that he's truly that bad and you were just to gentle not to rate.
Well some people are like that, but I know you'll have reservations if he ever comes your way next time.
Yeah, funny thing is that I may not even recognize him next time. That's how much I do not hold only to people or things unless you become important
I understand your stand.

Mheen, people can be rude yaknow. Imagine the level of rudeness this guy portrayed.
One thing most people fail to understand is that: "thank you" can make a man do more.
You're right.. A simple thank you lifts the soul
Some people did not understand this word Thank you it makes person do more for them. Some people are rude and they think they deserve everything, what he did was totally rubbish
Well, I hope he gets to learn his lessons someday. Thank you very much
