Week 358 | My Splinterlands Art Contest Entry | Warborn Chieftain
How is everybody? π
I was scrolling through the cards on the official site of SPL, and was looking for some elf or orge, and tadaa! Found the perfect card to draw this week! But then, I wanted to put a twist on it! As always, I will be using my anime art style. π
For this week, I chose Warborn Chieftain. π
"Gimnash Krimgur is the chieftain of the Warborn Tribe, one of twelve orcish tribes that comprise the Duratuk Nation in the Central Fireβs Northern Highlands. He leads his warriors in raids against neighboring settlements, taking prisoners and plunder. In the past, these prisoners were used as slaves and fodder for gladiatorial sport."
More of Warborn Chieftain's lore here.
Art Process
For this art, I wanted to turn Warborn Chieftain into his girl version, hehe. I wanted to make a gorgeous lady with long hair and lashes. I wanted here sitting by the edges of the cliff with an over looking view of an ocean, specifically on a cove. I added a tree stub with the axe. I started doing the sketch with a blue colored pen. I first drew the pose and then added another layer for the axe. I did this so that I can move the elements. Next, I used a textured pen for the lineart. I had some adjustments, like the hair and the lips. I used some helpful tools like the mesh and the vector eraser for some minor adjustments.
Next, after some line adjustments, I started doing the base color. I used the color picker tool to copy the colors from the original art. I made some adjustments to the color so that it would fit the environment. I wanted the colors to be lighter so that I could apply the shadings later. I then used the airbrush tool for the shading. I used the light to medium pressure and used the blur brush for the hard edges.
The rendering on the subject was 80 percent done. I started working on the background. So, again, the vision of the art is her sitting on edge on an over looking on a cove. I started doing the mountains by using a cell brush and then I clipped a layer to do the shading. Since it is far away, I made it a little lighter like as how the light reflects on the mountain top. Next is the ocean. I started with the light blue color. On another clipped layer, I used a darker shade. The farther it gets I applied a darker shade of blue. I also applied the lighting on the subject it self to show the source of the light.
Final Art
Now, I added the clouds and the bushes. I used a special brush for the bushes and for the cloud, I used a heavy airbrush.
For the final touches, I added some nuances like some textured mask and some cracks on the ground. The final one was adding those flocks of birds, even though it is not that noticeable, hehe. I am happy with the outcome, and it was my goal.
Tadaaa! I hope I imparted some knowledge through my art process! π Feel free to ask anything in the comment section, and I will answer to the best of my skill!! π₯³π
