Week 334 | My Splinterlands Art Contest Entry | Medusa
For this week, I chose Medusa. ☺️
Art Process
For this art, I wanted to explore more of a different artsyle aside from anime artstyle. It was a nice exercise for me, and also, just to get outside of my comfort artsyle.
This one one has a tight shot of the eyes and I wanted to focus on those and on the snake.
I first did base colors of unsaturated colors since the light source would be the contrast. Here, I just copied the eyes from the original art, red eyes.
This stage was the most time-consuming as I was making the eyes "popped" adding some highlights and hints of green and orange. I wanted the eyes to be "seducing" like a snake. I then rendered the snake's skin by using a textured brush to bring out the texture. Here, I slowly introduced the light source.
Final Art
Now, I wanted to intensify the light source by using a glow airbrush. Since it was on a skin, I also added red and orange tintes. Like the snake, I also airbrushed the yellow and red glows.
Finished art! ✨
