Week 310 | My Splinterlands Art Contest Entry | Mar Toren Trader

For this week, I chose Mar Toren Trader.

Art Process

My vision for this fan art is that the character is on the shore. So there would be an ocean and a ship in the background. I separated the sketch layer for the body and for the clothing. I used a pencil textured brush for the lineart.

On layers, I filled the white space with the base colors. On top of the layers, I used an airbrush to make a gradient effect. Again, another layer in multiply mode, I applied darker shades using a harder airbrush.

I worked on the eyes, which I think is important to make the eyes "alive" because most of the time, eyes are the first part that people look at in art, imo. Next is the glow of the hair and skin by using a glow effect airbrush. I soften the edges using a blur brush. Next is blurring some parts of the body.

Final Art

The background is just doodles and then I just blurr it out. I used a glow brush and made some strokes coming out from the left side as the light source. Finally, the entire canvas is masked with a textured image in lowered opacity. Noticed that that I changed the smile here, coz I feel like it, haha.
