Romantic Baboy | Korean Barbecue Grill
Hi, Foodies!π
Romantic Baboy, a popular Korean barbeque grill, is one of my favorite eating spots after a long, tiring day. By the way, the word baboy means "pig" in Tagalog.
It was called Romantic Baboy because after you pay, they give you a rose in a nice plastic wrap.
I think that was their come-on before. Now, they do not do that anymore since they are now popular and do not need that many marketing gimmicks.
This eat-all-you-can Korean grill is 10 USD per person. Order as much as you can eat any type of side dish and meat.
This branch is near to one of the biggest universities in the metro, and maybe in the whole country. For sure, every Friday, this place is filled with uni students.
It just opened at 11 in the morning and we were the second customer of the day.
The staff told us to take a seat first while we waited for them to prep the table for us.
They use real charcoal for the grillππ» which I think the meat tastier compared to those using butane gas.
They have smoke suckers and fans in case of too much smoke. Glad that they have a complete set of utensils- scissors (for the meat), chopsticks, napkins, cups, and plates.
Four sauces for the meat! πβ¨ I put these on top of my grilled meat, or sometimes I directly dip them and wrap them with lettuce.
My favorite is the gochujang sauce. Aside from the sauces, a block of cheese is given to counter the spiciness of kimchi and chilis.
They served first the side dishes. We got cabbage salad, green onion, japchae (stir fry starch noodles), fish cake, radish, sweet potato.
I try not to eat a lot of side dishes so as not to fill my stomach right away. π I just try some as an appetizer.
We can order whichever kind of meat since this is an eat-all-you-can grill.
The first meat that we ordered was daepae samgyupsal (thin slice of pork belly) and bulgogi. It came with a basket of lettuce for wrapping.
That yellow liquid on the edge of the grill is scrambled egg.
Ahh~ I remember the smell of this grilled meat! π€€ It was tender and juicy!
While I waited for the meat to be cooked, I chose my side dishes for toppings. They gave us a small plate, perhaps the logic of it is that you will carry it while you eat.
Round 2! We can always ask to change the grill itself when it gets too charred. Sometimes, the staff ask us to change it when they notice it. The smoke sucker is doing a great job. It hurts when it gets to the eyes. π
I forgot how many slabs of meat we already had here. Definitely, we love ordering the thinly sliced pork belly and beef brisket.
The latter is a bit chewy which served its purpose since it is a tough meat collagen. I like to alternately put sesame oil and kimchi on every bite of the meat.
We just chitchatted about life, career, and random silly stuff.
For dessert, a corner of popsicles and ice cream were available, separate from the bill, so we had to pay an extra 1.50 USD. I recommend Melona green. π A nice treat to clean the greasiness on your tongue. π
We were full, satisfied, and got home with a happy tummy!π
Thanks for reading~ π

Just 10$ per head? That's a sweet deal. It's very hard to find korean food here. Most are Arabian dishes. Never really understood the concept of cooking your own food in restaurant π. I go there because I'm lazy to cook. That's one of the reasons atleast lol.
Oh, you cook it yourself because you know it's freshly grilled. π I think that's the concept behind it. Also, it teaches you patience haha ππ
It's easy to find Asian cuisines here. We have lots of Arabic restos here too, but not indian. π I'll blog it when I happen to eat there.
