I Won!

I never knew what it meant to wake up to good news. To have people wake you up to tell you. “Congratulations! Have you heard the good news?” I’m going to find that post and link it here where I talked about the fact that I was vying for the position for Financial Secretary of LAWSAN (Law Students Association of Nigeria).

The elections were supposed to hold that week, and then it was pushed to the next week because of some contingencies, and then to the next two weeks because of rumours of a potential rigging by a presidential candidate, and then to the next month because of even more issues. At some point, I completely took my mind off it because I was tired of getting my hopes up.

I don’t even know how to say this, but that election was finally conducted today, and I guess you’re reading from the Financial Secretary-Elect of LAWSAN. My face nearly cracked from smiling too hard. And then, I concluded within myself that the day was over, and I could sleep with that win.

I’d stayed up all night working on assignment, so I was jetlagged and the moment I got back from school, slumped on the bed and fell into a dreamless sleep, or so. And that’s when it happened.

I woke up to a call from someone asking why I wasn’t online. She kept screaming congratulations at me, and I thought it was about my new position. And so, I came online to meet about fifty messages from different people, including strangers.

What was going on?

And then, I went to the Legal Internship group of the Platinum and Taylor Hill Law firm where I’d been interning at for the last one month. The internship was ending, and awards were being given to the most deserving interns. You guys, out of nearly 200 interns, I was third overall best intern, and my award was presented with cash gifts, and a placement in their firm when I’m done with Law school.

My mouth was hanging open, and I struggled hard to close it. It felt like someone poured ice water on me. I struggled for minutes to process everything, and I still couldn’t understand. I couldn’t believe it. I still can’t. I’m super happy, guys. I’m telling you this year has been a year of far too many wins, and I’m overjoyed that it’s just starting cause the next few months of the year are about to epic as well.

There’s a reason I’m more than overjoyed for these wins, and anyone who’s really close to me will understand all I’d been going through in the past months. All the pressure I was facing academically and especially financially. Things are shaping beautifully in my life, and I’m watching it with eyes wide open. I was nearly not going to pen this down, but why won’t I rejoice when I’m having more and more reasons to believe in God’s infinite love for me?

Anyway, I’ve said a lot, and I’ve said nothing at the same time. I had countless things in my mind to say, and now I don’t know if I’d done justice to those thoughts in my head, but I’m so glad I could share this with you all. I hope to look at this post someday, and say, “If only she knew that the good news was just starting.” I won’t stop celebrating, and I hope you all can celebrate with me as well.

To infinite wins!🥂
