Architecture +Design|| Conceptualizing the Culture and Tradition

Hi, guyz! I am not an architect nor an engineer but I believe that architecture is not easy because every details of the sketch must be in perfect place. It needs a hand that create unique designs, a sound mind that has to be quick in giving details and a humble heart that aim to provide the greatest service to his clients. Being an architect, must possess harmony of mind, heart and hand in order to make the perfect picture/design of a building or facility that the owner/s want to build. As we can see, architect provide the best picture of their designs even it os not yet completely constructed.

One of the example is the designed picture of a project/thesis of Architecture students of the University of Cordilleras entitled "Benguet Learning Site and Farm Tourist". I had seen this many times but I did not have much time to look and read every details seen in the glass. So, while waiting my companion to arrived, I went to take a look what really inside the glass box. I was amazed to this design displayed along the hall way. At first, I am thinking where is this place since I did not hear it before. So, to satisfy my curiosity, I took a look with the written details in the glass. So, I smiled and said to myself, what a beautiful and sound mind of this students to create this beautiful design. I do hope that our Provincial Government will take a look on it and look for a perfect place to establish this farm tourist and learning site since the major source of livelihood in our place is agriculture both vegetable and livestock.

As I can see, it conceptualize the cultural village of the Indigenous People of Benguet. It promotes the old designs of houses, preservation of the natural resources and a healthy and friendly environment for tourist.

In the other hand, another architectural design is found along the hall way. It represent the people of Benguet, our culture and tradition. We, the Igorot people of Benguet Province.

We can see the cultural and traditional practices such clothing, and recreational activities, such our traditional dance, the "Tayaw". The main source of livelihood here in our place is agriculture. The climate here is cold and we have a lot of beautiful places to visit and encountering the beautiful people with a heart. We always promote unity, peace and love.

Means of transportation of goods and agricultural products in some part of Benguet is too hard since it is not accessible. What we use to trasport our goods is through carrying them going down to the a certain place that is accessible by cars.
For women, we usually use Kayabang with an "Apid" that is placed in our head while its tie knot is in the lower part of the Kayabang.

In photo is what we call "Kayabang". Women used this to carry goods and products going down to the market.
In addition, I remember my grandmother used to tell story that they barter their products to groceries, clothes or kitchen wares in the lowland.

So, kudos to all architect and engineer out there! Keep on conceptualizing the culture and tradition of the place where you will be rendering your services.

To all of you guys here in this community, come and visit our place to experience the Igorot ambience in our different tourist destinations.
