Splinterlands: Wiping out my opponent with Captain Katie's magic snipe damage
Splinterlands is a complex game and it allows for various different cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various different rulesets applied and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used the right cards under the right ruleset.
Featured cards
Captain Katie is a life splinter that costs 5 mana. It starts off with the snipe and bloodlust ability. It learns divine shield at level 10. I have this card at level 4 so it has 4 magic damage and its a strong damage dealer once that bloodlust starts to stack.
Rule set, Battle and Plan
The ruleset this time is Ferocity and Briar Patch. This means that all monsters start off with the fury and thorns ability. There is also 21 mana and I can choose fire, life, or dragon splinter.
Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
---|---|---|---|
Franz Ruffmane | 6 | Summoner | +1 armor and gladiator |
Pelacor Conjurer | 2 | 1st | Flying and Magic Reflect |
Captain Katie | 7 | 2nd | Snipe and Bloodlust |
Dax Paragon | 2 | 3rd | Amplify |
Venari Crystalsmith | 4 | 4th | Tank Heal |
Total Mana: | 21 |
I use Franz Ruffmane as my summoner for the +1 armor and access to a gladiator. The ruleset is against melee monsters so I use Pelacor Conjurer as my tank with flying and magic reflect. Then I have Captain Katie as my backup tank but more as a damage dealer. I have Dax to amplify the thorns damage and Venari Crystalsmith for tank heal.
Round 1
At first glance, I think that this match is my win because my opponent will have to go through my tank first. So this means that I will be able to take out the damage dealers in the back without issue.
Round 2
My opponent is down 2 monsters and I didn't take any damage. There is no way for my opponent win because Captain Katie will remove the strongest damage dealer and my opponent won't be able to kill any monsters due to my healer.
I ended up winning this match a few turns later like I expected
Conclusion
The battle this time did not play out as expected. Captain Katie demolished my opponent and it was unstoppable once that bloodlust started to stack. I had a great tank and healer so there were no issues on my end. I did have amplify for melee damage, but my opponent didn't use many melee monsters so I felt that was wasted. However, it was there incase it happened to be safe. I did have the level advantage so I doubt there was much my opponent could do and my opponent missed quite a few attacks against my Conjurer. The gladiators can be useful cards in your deck depending on the ruleset and mana cap. So I would consider them as possible options in your lineup.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

I think the Pelacor provided the needed protection for the Katie to shine, it's such wins like this that makes splinterlands exciting.
True, the tank did its job and let Captain Katie wipe out the backline. We can only do our best to take advantage of the ruleset and mana cap to win each fight.
Wow
After the long fight, I’m happy that you eventually won the fight
Congratulations to you
It was an easy win. My strategy worked out with Captain Katie.
Captain Katie becomes really deadly in low mana fights as with the sniping ability she is able to quickly take out smaller monsters sitting at the back.
Cheers!
Yes. The snipe ability lets it target those magic and ranged monsters that generally have less health.
