Splinterlands Weekly Challenge Battle BATTLE MAGE SECRETS! Lost Legendaries and winning a close match with ranged monsters

Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a rule set using a specific card and on this week's post it is a battle with the Lost Legendaries rule set. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is Equalizer, Lost Legendaries, and Briar Patch. This means that all monsters start with the same health and gain the thorns ability. Legendary monsters can't be used either. There is also 59 mana available and I am left with the choice of fire, water, earth, or dragon splinter.

The summoner I chose to use this time is Immortalis. It reduces my enemies health by 1 and gives my monsters the void and shatter ability.

Mycelic Slipspawn96thTaunt and Forcefield
Total Mana:45

I plan to use Failed Summoner as my first tank for the magic reflect ability. Then I have Regal Peryton as a backup tank because of Flying, flying. After that is Beatrix Ironhand for the close range ability. Then I have two more ranged damage dealers, one with snare and the other with stun. My last monster is a magic monster with taunt and forcefield.

Round 1

round 1.png
At first glance, I think that this is an even match. My opponent has reduced my magic damage so my magic monsters are useless and he also has tank heal so it will be harder to kill monsters. The only benefit is that I have one more ranged monster than my opponent so that means that I should deal more damage than my opponent.

Round 2

round 2.png
Both me and my opponent lost our taunt monsters. I don't think much will change until the healer dies so I will fast forward to that point.

Round 7

round 7.png
Me and my opponent are down to two ranged monsters left. However, only one of them can attack. Given my speed advantage, I should be able to win this match if I don't miss. Otherwise my opponent will win because whoever takes out the tank first will win.

conclusion.png
A few rounds later I won because I didn't miss any attacks but it was close.

Conclusion

The battle did not goas I expected but I am glad that I used enough ranged monsters to win the match. The combination of void and silence was quite powerful as it made all of my magic monsters useless. I got lucky to dodge a few attacks and it barely gave me the win in the end. It was a match that could go either way because my opponent was able to heal his monsters as well.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players play in a ruleset.

It was a close game and it could have gone both ways. Good win though. I think your opponent anticipated that you'll field mostly magic cards. Good win. Whenever I see the immoratalis with magic cards, I know I'll lose.
