Splinterlands Social Media Challenge: Sometimes all you need is one speed over your opponent to win

Splinterlands is a pretty complicated game with interesting battles with all the options available. This is a part of the weekly social media challenge for Splinterlands. This week is about a great fight where I won because of the swiftness skill which boosted my monster's speed.

Featured cards

Supply Runner is a neutral splinter that costs 6 mana and it starts with no ability. It learns swiftness at level 5 and strengthen at level 10. I have this card at level 5 and I think it's a very useful card because of it's stats along with swiftness.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is Maneuvers and Explosive Weaponry. This means that all monsters start off with reach and blast. There are 34 mana available and I am left with the choice of fire, water, earth, or death splinter.

Lobb Lowland reduces my enemies speed by 1 and gives me access to a gladiator. My Tank is Pelacor Mercenary due to the flying and heal. Quora is up second to take advantage of reach with its bloodlust and heal abilities. My 3rd monster is a martyr monster with blind. My 4th spot is more of a filler but this card could end up attack later in the match. My 5th monster is supply runner with swiftness and my last monster is a thorns monster.

Round 1

round 1.png
At first glance, I think that this match can go either way. My opponent and I are using Quora, but my opponent has 2 martyr monsters while I only have 1. This could be quite dangerous depending on how things play out.

Round 2

round 2.png
I was able to stack one bloodlust on Quora, but this match could still go either way.

Round 3

round 3.png
My Quora was able to kill 2 monsters but my opponent was also able to kill a few of mine. So both of us are around the same stats, but I do have a slight speed advantage due to supply runner. If I miss any attacks, I will lose the match but if I don't, then I should win.

I ended up winning the match a few turns later because I didn't miss. The speed advantage gave me the first attack against Quora.

Conclusion

The battle this time around went exactly like I expected. I went with heal monsters up front to last longer. I wasn't expecting to fight a Quora as well, but I won due to the speed advantage from supply runner. Sometimes, one speed is enough to give you the win. It let me attack first in the 2nd round to stack 2 bloodlust and it also gave me the first mover advantage against the Quora.

You can see my entire match here.

with the blast ruleset, speed is a must, combine with bloodlust and martyr and gg

Yea. It all adds up when you include the blast damage.

I think capitalizing on that reach ability as well as well placing your Matyr cards was why you won the game. You had a better Quora but immunity didn't really do much in the game. Good win

The immunity didn't help, but Quora did its job perfectly. Taking advantage of the ruleset is never a bad idea.

Haha, especially when you play an opponent that really didn't play to the Rulesets.

It helps most of the time. Being able to kill off your opponents before they move is a huge advantage.
