Splinterlands Social Media Challenge: Chaos Animator is an amazing card
Splinterlands is a pretty complicated game with interesting battles, with all the options available. This is a part of the weekly social media challenge for Splinterlands. This week is about a great fight where I won because I used Chaos Animator.
Featured cards
Chaos Animator is a death splinter that costs 3 mana. This splinter starts with low health and speed, but it has high armor. It starts off with amplify. It learns void at level 3 and redemption at level 10. At level 1, this card isn't that great, but I think it's quite good at level 3 when it gains the void ability. This card also doesn't cost too much mana.
Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The ruleset this time is Little League and Briar Patch. This means that only monsters with a mana cost of 4 or less can be used, and all monsters gain the thorns ability. I can use fire, earth, death, or dragon splinter.
Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
---|---|---|---|
Thaddius Brood | 4 | Summoner | -1 Magic and Health |
Ahna-Chei Botanist | 2 | 1st | Return Fire |
Chaos Animator | 3 | 2nd | Amplify and Void |
Chaos Agent | 1 | 3rd | Dodge |
Dark Arborist | 4 | 4th | Demoralize |
Soul Strangler | 3 | 5th | |
Carrion Shade | 1 | 6th | Flying |
Total Mana: | 18 |
I use Thaddius Brood as my summoner for the -1 magic and health. Since melee monsters are at a disadvantage, I have my tank as Ahna-Chei Botanist with return fire to reflect any ranged damage. Then I have Chaos Animator after as my backup tank and to amplify the counter damage. Chaos Agent is a filler monster, and Dark Arborist will reduce the melee damage with demoralize. Soul Strangler is my damage dealer and my last monster is Carrion Shade with flying to take some damage from any sneak monsters.
My strategy is to take advantage of the thorns from the ruleset, and amplify that counter damage. By placing a return fire monster up front, and then Chaos Animator after, I am protected to an extent against melee, ranged, and magic. This will give my damage dealers a chance to deal damage against my opponent while countering damage when possible.
Round 1
At first glance, I think that this match is my win. My opponent has focused on magic and ranged monsters, but my summoner negates my opponent's magic boost. The return fire will be quite nice as my opponent's ranged monsters are decently fast so it should reflect some damage before my first tank goes down.
Round 3
I fast-forwarded to round 3 because I didn't think it was that interesting to see me and my opponent trade blows. As it stands, my opponent has lost three monsters while I have only lost 1. My monsters won't miss so there is no chance of my opponent winning, given the void monster up front. My opponent only has 1 health, and given the speed difference from my ranged monsters, I can't miss. This guarantees that two monsters will die this turn, and the last monster will die the following round.
I ended up winning a few rounds as I expected.
Conclusion
The battle this time did play out as I expected. My choice of using Chaos Animator was correct. It served as a great support card and backup tank. The amplify helped me reduce the ranged monsters health with my first tank, and then the void allowed it to tank quite a few of the leftover magic monsters. There wasn't much my opponent could do against me, and my damage dealers killed off the remainder.
You can see my entire match here.
What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

It's a situational card, good in certain ruleset or otherwise with a weapon training
It's situational, but I felt it was a perfect fit for this little league match.

Amplify plus void makes it a punishment for opponents, I see. It was a clever placement behind a return fire monster
Yea. I think that amplifying the counter damage helps quite a bit depending on the ruleset or monsters.
