Splinterlands: Shock Trooper is great in back to the basics

Splinterlands is a complex game and it allows for various different cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various different rulesets applied and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Shock Trooper.

Featured cards

Shock Trooper| is a water monster that costs 4 mana. It starts with electrified. It learns swiftness at level 3 and magic reflect at level 6. I don't use this card very often because of the damage it does to the entire team, but it is a solid choice in back to the basics where abilties don't work.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

rule set.png

The ruleset this time is Back to the Basics and Up to Eleven. This means that monsters lose all abilities and all monsters gain the amplify ability. There is also 36 mana available, and I can use any splinter.

SplinterMana CostPositionReason
Marlai Singariel6Summoner+1 magic
Commander Slade101st
Thanalorian Scion52nd
Anasth Soothsayer63rd
Water Diviner24th
Argarux Magus35th
Shock Trooper46th
Total Mana:36

I use Marlai Singariel for its +1 magic damage. Commander Slade is my tank up front to take hits. Thanalorian Scion is my backup tank in case my opponent is focused on physical damage. After that is just 4 magic monsters as damage dealers, and Shock Tropper is in the last spot because it will survive the longest as my strongest damage dealer.

My plan is to have my first few monsters tank the hits, while the rest of my monsters wipe out the rest. My damage lineup is focused all on magic monsters, but I might be at a slight disadvantage if my opponent uses magic monsters because my backup tank will die in one hit.

Round 1

round 1.png
At first glance, I think that the match could go either way. My opponent has void from his summoner so it will take longer to kill my opponents tanks, but he doesn't have as much magic damage. So I might be able to survive a bit longer due to the armor on my first two units.

Round 3

round 3.png
My opponent has lost most of his lineup, but I haven't lost any. This was a weird fight because my opponent's first three monsters did not get the void from his summoner. This made the fight easier, but I am not sure I would have won if this wasn't the case. My opponent is only left with some ranged monsters so it is my win.

I ended up winning this match a few rounds later like I expected.

Conclusion

The battle this time did play out as I expected, but I can't help but think there was a bug. I am not sure why my opponent had a few units without the void ability. It gave me an easy win, but I wonder why something like that happens.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

Shocktrooper definitely the best card in back to the basics

Yup. They have increased stats due to the damage they take every turn, and back to the basics just removes that disadvantage.

It's great as well as the kazi, that's because the burn they have do not show up when they're in back to basics Ruleset

Yea. Having no debuffs works out great when they have good stats.
