Splinterlands: Incessant Sage is great in Born Again and Earthquake

avatar

Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Sand Worm.

Featured cards

Incessant Sage is a life archon that costs 6 mana. This archon is a frontier card and it gives +1 armor to all monsters on your side. Leveling this card only increases the level of cards you can use in the fight.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

rule set.png

The rulesets this time are Born Again and Earthquake. This means that all monsters gain the rebirth ability, and all non-flying monsters take 2 physical damage a turn. There is also 46 mana available, and I can use fire, life, or dragon splinter.

This battle is interesting because rebirth and earthquake makes cards with armor quite good. When a monster is rebirthed, it comes back with 1 health and full armor. Other than that, you have to consider how much health they need to survive the earthquake damage.

My summoner is Incessant Sage for its +1 armor. My tank is Twice Yester Knight. After is Paprikash with reach and Celestial Guardian with flying. Then I have some ranged monsters and New Beluroc Aegis with taunt.

The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while taking advantage of the rebirth. Twice Yester Knight and New Beluroc Aegis are my monsters tanking most of the damage, and they also have quite a bit of armor, so they can tank more hits after the rebirth. The middle of my lineup is just for damage and I have one flying monster so it won't take earthquake damage.

Round 1

round 1.png
At first glance, I think that this match could still go either way. My opponent has max level cards and more damage that me. It will depend on how long my tank monsters can survive long enough for me to win this match. A few turns is all I need for earthquake to wreck him.

Round 4

round 4.png
My opponent is left with two monsters while I have five. However, my opponent only has 1 monster capable of attacking. At this point, this match is my win because my opponent won't be able to survive the earthquake damage and kill off my monsters.

I won that match later that round.

Conclusion

The battle this time went exactly as planned. It looks like focusing on outlasting my opponent and taking advantage of the ruleset worked out in the end. My opponent started to lose out on his monsters, and I could outlast my opponent through my strategy.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

You really played the ruleset well instead of just going for damage.

Light builds are underrated in Frontier!
Where there is too much Damage from rules, Armor becomes essential.
Great tips! Thanks!
