Splinterlands: Grandmaster Rathe and Clockwork Aide in Equal Opportunity is a great combination

Splinterlands is a complex game and it allows for various different cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various different rulesets applied and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Chimney Wallstop.

Featured cards

Clockwork Aide is a neutral monster that costs 4 mana. It starts with swiftness. It learns rust at level 4 and strengthen at level 6. I use this card from time to time, but not as often. The only downside is the 1 health so I don't use it often unless I have something to keep it alive.

Grandmaster Rathe is a life summoner that gives +1 armor, void armor, and amplify. It's a fairly good legendary summoner with those abilities and it can synergize well with some cards.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The ruleset this time is Equal Opportunity, Heavy Hitters, and Keep Your Distance. This means that no melee monsters can be used, and all monsters gain the knock out and opportunity ability. There is also 45 mana available, and I can use fire, life, or dragon splinter splinter.

I use Grandmaster Rathe for its abilities. Clockwork Aide is my tank because Grandmaster Rathe can keep it alive. After that is Moxian Rebel with weapons training. Pelacor Conjurer has flying and magic reflect so it works well as a backup tank. After that is Time Mage with slow, and one extra magic damage dealer afterwards.

Round 1

At first glance, I think that I have the advantage in this match. The only issue is that bloodlust monster with blast. It should focus its damage on my clockwork aide to start, so I have some time to wipe out some of the remaining monsters.

Round 3

round 3.png
I have lost one monster, but my opponent has lost 3 of his. All that is left is that bloodlust monster, but this is my win. The magic reflect combined with my damage makes it so that my opponent can't win anymore.

I ended up winning this match a few rounds later, just as I expected.

Conclusion

The battle this time played out exactly how I thought it would. Having Clockwork Aide as my tank in the first slot was the best choice because it kept that bloodlust monster from attacking the rest of my lineup. By the time Clockwork died, the rest of my opponent's lineup was dead, and I was able to finish off the monster without any issues. Grandmaster Rathe was the right choice as it allowed Clockwork Aide to survive all those magic hits.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

Yea. That is true as well, but combined with Grandmaster Rathe would make it even stronger.

The clockwork took some damage from that blast, but I think the Grandmaster was instrumental to your win. You could have easily lost it with the bloodlust your opponent was building, but yeah, close one.

Yea. I think it was a nice combination against that bloodlust monster.
