Splinterlands Engagement Challenge: Exploring the Upcoming Release of Conclave Arcana!

Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge that can be found in this week's post. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because they get to learn about the game. In this week's challenge, we talk about the conclave arcana set coming out.

Conclave Arcana

This will be the new set of cards that replaces Chaos Legion in the modern format. Chaos Legion can still be used in Brawls and Wild format. It will launch with 82 cards with the rarities below. Do note that there will be 9 more legendary cards added on later during the airdrop. All the information here was gotten from the post introducing Conclave Arcana.

  • 24 Common cards
  • 29 Rare cards
  • 14 Epic cards
  • 15 Legendary cards

Archons

Summoners will now be called archons. On top of that, each archon will also allow you to access cards from the bloodline that they have. For example, the fire summoner above would give you access to any dwarves (no matter the splinter type) that can be played. It will add more to the strategies that you can play in the game.

New Abilities

  • Painforge: +1 power when damaged by Poisoned or Burning or hit by an ally.
  • Reckless: Each successful attack also deals 1 damage to adjacent allied units.
  • Bloodline Tribute: When defeated, all allied units of the same bloodline gain +1 health, speed, and armor and +1 power to each shared attack type.
  • Resurgence: Self-resurrects once per battle with 100% health and armor. All magic debuffs are removed, and all magic buffs are reapplied. Skips turn. Deals 1 physical damage to all units.
  • Shapeshift: Treated as all bloodlines.
  • Final Rest: Allied and enemy abilities that trigger on defeat cannot activate.
  • Reveal: Each round applies Revealed to a Camouflaged enemy unit. Revealed units can be targeted by direct attacks.
  • Relentless Strike: Attacks deal true damage. Phase and Dodge do not reduce chance to hit.
  • Bloodline Dominion: You can summon any unit of the same bloodline as this archon, regardless of element.

There are nine new abilities added to the game through the addition of this set. The abilities come from the post introducing Conclave Arcana, but it will also add more depth to the strategies. It will be interesting to see how things go when you include the bloodlines from the Archons.

Black Foils

  • +20% Reward bonus in ranked battles
  • Half the cooldown of Gold Foil cards in Survival Mode
  • 5x the DEC burn value, Collection Power, and Contribution in Conflicts of Gold Foils
  • 5x base Production Point multiplier (same as Beta cards)

These are a new type of foil type for the cards that you get from packs, and these cards come out at max level. I would say that they are a tier above gold foil cards because of the perks above. It does sound expensive, though.

What are you most excited about with the release of Conclave Arcana?

I am interested in seeing what the new strategies will be with the new cards. I expect quite a few changes because I won't be able to use gladiator cards much, and with Chaos Legion being removed, I will have to consider how to build my deck to play in Modern.

How do you think this set will impact your personal strategy?

I am sad to see Chaos Legion get phased out of modern, but it was bound to happen at some point. However, the new set of cards will add more depth to the gameplay. You have to consider the new abilities and bloodlines as well. My Rebellion cards aren't as buffed up, so I might wait a while for prices on Conclave to drop before buying them. I don't think I will participate in the presale and deal with packs because there is too much randomness there. I think I'll just save my funds to be more selective and buy the cards at a playable level.

Conclusion

This challenge was to look at the Conclave Arcana set coming out. A lot of things are changing with this new set, and I will have to adapt to these changes. The hardest thing will be the large hit to my deck in modern because Chaos Legion is being removed. On top of that, the new bloodlines and abilities will shake up the gameplay. I will have to see what I will do for cards and strategies later on.

What is your plan in regards to the new Conclave set?

Feel free to leave a comment if you read my post. If you have any questions, feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer.

I think I will just skip, they are adding so much stuff to make you spend, like the new foils, the race and so on... While token is so low in price you are never gonna recover

I think it depends, but I don't think the wild pass is worth it. So the investment into Conclave sounds like a better choice. I might sell off some of my Chaos legion cards to fund the purchases.

Hi jfang, though am not into splinterlands yet, it’s kinda complicated but I find your writing about the upcoming Conclave Arcana set in Splinterlands really informative! The new abilities and bloodlines looks like they'll add depth to the game. I will be looking to see how the removal of Chaos Legion will impact the game and deck-building. What about you - are you excited about the new set?

I am excited about the new set, but I dread it too. My deck will be a lot weaker once Chaos Legion is moved out of modern.

That’s sad but am sure you are on top of your game
You would do well 💪

However, the new set of cards will add more depth to the gameplay.

The ability are good, true, but I'm guessing they'll be phased out of modern by 2027 if I'm not wrong. I think the new abilities are good, I hope I don't to play against players with them after the card opening in May..

I think you have a solid strategy which is save funds and buy after pack opening. The openings might just too random and you might not recoup your investment

Yea. I think its best to buy the cards and remove the randomness factor.

The game needs to be redesigned. Hopefully, this will revitalize the ecosystem and attract many new players.

I think it depends. The new set will change things around. I wonder what they will do to attract new players though.

This will probably be the point where I say stop to the game... with a lot of sadness and a big financial loss. From what I understand, Conclave will also mean that play-for-free players will not have any summoner playable in the modern format.
