Splinterlands: Celestial Guardian is a good card for Hey Jealousy

Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Celestial Guardian.

Featured cards

Celestial Guardian is a life splinter that costs 4 mana. This splinter starts with just the flying ability. As it levels up, it learns stats increase. I have this card at level 1, but good depending on the ruleset in Frontier.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

rule set.png

The rulesets this time are Hey Jealousy and Earthquake. This means that monsters attack the highest health monster, and any non-flying monsters take 2 physical damage per turn. There is also 24 mana available, and I can use any splinter except for water, death, and dragon.

I don't see this ruleset often, but the Hey Jealousy ruleset is one of the new ones. It makes monsters attack the highest health monsters so you can rearrange your lineup in a different way from usual.

SplinterMana CostPositionReason
Incessant Sage6Summoner+1 armor
Spellmonger41stThorns
Celestial Guardian82ndFlying
Wild Horse Tamer63rd
Total Mana:24

My summoner is Incessant Sage for the +1 armor. My tank is Spellmonger wtih thorns. Celestial Guardian is my backup tank with flying. My last monster is Wild Horse Tamer.

The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while the rest of my lineup deals damage. Spellmonger is up front because it has thorns, and melee monsters tend to be the first monster up. Celestial Guardian is my 2nd monster for the flying ability because there is earthquake, and the damage is nice. Wild Horse Tamer is my highest health monster, so it will take any hits outside of the front monster and delay my opponent.

Round 1

round 1.png
At first glance, I think that this match is my win. my opponent's backline will target tamer while the rest of my lineup deals damage. Thorns plus earthquake and my monster will make some decent work of my opponent's Dread.

Round 8

round 3.png
A few rounds later, my opponent has both of his monsters on low health. Since earthquake damage will take effect first, this is my win.

I won that match later that round

Conclusion

The battle this time went exactly as planned. My lineup worked in the end with the thorns monster dealing extra damage, and Tamer attracting the ranged damage. Celestial Guardian worked well as my damage dealer because it was safe, and the earthquake damage just ended up hurting my opponent more.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

That synergy between Spellmonger's thorns and the armor buff from Incessant Sage probably drove your opponent crazy!

Yea. I kept that thorns monster up front to deal with any melee tank monsters.
