Rising Star Weekly Giveaway #181 and An Earnest Desire of Grey

Here is my weekly status and giveaway. I also talk about an OST track that I like. Please make sure to read the rules to qualify for the giveaway. I chose a track from a game that I played in the past that I liked.

An Earnest Desire of Grey

An Earnest Desire of Grey is an OST that plays in Radiant Historia against the final boss. Radiant Historia is one of the hidden gem RPGs from the Nintendo DS/3DS category and I loved playing the game. The most memorable track in that game is this OST because everything went on and the story was amazing. What I like the most about the track is the sorrow in this track after you find out the final boss's reason for doing what he did. I love the entire time travel aspect of this game and you were expected to fail at one point of the timelines and forced to travel to another timeline to get things right. It's one of the games where I think that they did the entire time travel aspect perfectly and it never hurt to get a bad ending. In fact, I went for all the bad endings that I could just so that they would show up on the timelines. I played the original DS version and later on the remake with an extended story for the 3DS. It was just that great of a game. If you had to pick just one to play, I would play the 3DS version of Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology.

The character that I think about the most from this track is Heiss. He is a character that you know early on and you also end up fighting towards the end. I think he makes for a great villain and I also think he is a good character. He has a reason for doing what he did and in a way, he was also looking out for the main character. I also think he was one of the hardest fights as I died once against him and had to redo the fight while playing on the hardest difficulty. The image is from the wiki page for Shulk.

Do you like any of these tracks? If so, why?

Current Status

I gained 51k STARBITS over the past week and if you add in the millionaire mission, I got around 121k. It was just a bit lower than last week as I was busier this week at work. There were a few times when I forgot to set a long mission at night.

Current Ranking

My rank went down. The time played is probably the biggest factor as that dropped quite a bit. I need to be better showing up during the week.

Tips (source)

I think the tips are something every new player should know about. It will help people progress in the game and it hasn't really been shared since surya1adiga stopped his giveaways.

  1. Take music lessons when possible to raise skill and reduce ego.
  2. Having lesson specific instruments helps in receiving more skill from that lesson.
  3. Have pizza box to store any pizza received during mission to reuse later.
  4. Buy cold pizza slice if possible. This gives 1 refill every 24hours. Comes very handy when you are low on energy.
  5. If you have enough of cold pizza slice and pizza box, you will never run out of energy.
  6. If you have more fans than skill and you won't reduce the ego , you can use a storage trailer to store unnecessary cards. Or you can list the card in market for an unreasonably high price.
  7. Ego received for a particular mission increases every time you play it. The ego is reset to base level the next day. So, try to play different missions to control the ego gained.
  8. Keep track of your achievements to unlock in game rewards
  9. Buy storage trailer (only if necessary) to keep the cards that might have a negative effect. Like a card with high fan count resulting in ego.
  10. When earning skill points through music lessons, you can earn more points per lesson if you hold more of specific instrument cards. There seems to be base skill which is rewarded irrespective of the card count and then the skill increases depending on the number of the lesson specific card one has.
  11. Try taking up many smaller missions to fill up pizza boxes and have extra energy to play more rewarding missions. But you need to have pizza boxes for this to work.

I have never played it that game but if it's JRPG it must be good. I played mostly FF and DQ. I also played Legend of Legaia on PS1 before, a good game.

It's a hidden gem. You flip between different timelines. When you get blocked in one, you change to the other one and as you go through those events, you learn more about the plot going on. The gameplay is also good as it's a tactical RPG and you can move your opponent's turn up so you can have a bunch of turns one after another. I would give it a try but it's a DS/3DS game so you might have to emulate. I think they already stopped the online shop for the DS/3DS shop.

Hmm. Maybe they can port it on mobile similar to what Konami did to FF and DQ titles. It's missing the excellent audio voice acting but the game is still the same.

The developers are Atlus but I think they are focusing more on Persona or Shin Megami Tensei. So I don't think they are doing anything with Radiant Historia right now. Maybe they will in the future.
