OSRS: Doing some Sailing and Slayer
Two weeks ago, I talked about how the Sailing skill was going for me and my review of it here. During my deadline, I did a lot of Sailing because I was glued to my computer, and Salvaging was one of the most afk things to do. However, now that my deadline is over, I didn't feel like focusing on just sailing because the skill itself is not as connected to the rest of the game. I have a bit more time, so I decided to start working on some of my skills. I also started looking into some of the new methods created because of Sailing, and how they can help me towards that Max cape eventually.
Sailing Progress

If you look at my skill level for Sailing, I am now at level 93, and I have 7 million Sailing xp now. When I wrote up that post two weeks ago, I was at 1 million xp (level 73). I have to say that my luck hasn't been the greatest when it comes to the collection log items for salvaging. I have over 10,000 salvages in Merchant and Mercenary shipwrecks, but I have yet to get that rare drop (drop rate is like 1 in 20,000). I haven't hit the drop rate yet, but if I do, I'll probably be close to 99 as is. If I get bad luck, I might not even them by 99.

One thing that I did was the last Barracuda Trials. I keep messing up, and I didn't want to deal with the precesion so I spent some GP to upgrade my racing boat, and finally got it when I had a 20% faster boat. Even then, I barely hit the time after a few hours since I am not the greatest at it. The best thing about finally doing this is that I can get the crystal extractor that gives bonus sailing xp every minute with a chance of generating some free crystal shards.
Slayer
Slayer is a skill that requires you to kill the monster given to you by a slayer master. You need to be on task to get experience, and I have to say that doing Slayer for the past week or so has been a great time. As you are focused on killing monsters, I find that it is best to do this while working on your combat stats, and it made more sense to start working on this.

I didn't expect the Sailing grind to end up making my Slayer journey more profitable. I ended up with 2 1/750 drops on the aquanite tendons and made them into the hopper to sell. This ended up earning me over 20 million GP, and I ended up using that to make up for what I spent on upgrading my racing boat. This is a newer item, so the prices don't accurately reflect it yet.

I also got a dragon warhammer from Lizardman Shaman task. Now that I have this, I can remove this from my list of assignments. It's a nice drop worth over 11 million GP, and I got lucky because I got it in around 890 kills when the drop rate is 1 in 3,000.
Barbarian Assault

The last thing that I kind of did was Barbarian Assault. I skipped doing this mini-game for a long time because I thought that it wasn't worth it due to how much you have to rely on a team, and I felt being more anti-social. In the end, I decided to do a few games over the past week, and managed to get the Fighter Torso. Gear-wise, it's not useful, but I needed it for my Master clue (that has been sitting on this step for months). Finally, it also let me finish the Kandarin Medium and Hard Diary. I still need to level up my roles to level 5 for the elite dairy, but I don't feel like spending more time there. I do think that I understand the game now, though.
Construction
This is one of the skills that I wanted to max out for the longest time, but I didn't like the current methods. Mahogany homes is cheaper, but it seems like too much time to run back and forth. Using a butler and spam clicking in the house is faster, but I hated it. One of the newest things they added was repair kits for your ship. I can do that, and just come back every minute or so. In order to save some costs, I decided that I would smith the nails, and later alchemy the kits to recoup costs. This would cost about the same as a butler, and I think it fits my play style more.
Conclusion and my plans
It looked like I had a great two weeks. I ended up with an increase of 29 total skill levels. Most of it was sailing, but I started working on a few other skills, and it will bring me closer to maxing all my skills and getting that Max Cape. Sailing is great, but I feel like I want to change things up. It doesn't seem hard to max out the skill, but I will do that when I don't have as much free time. On the side, I have been working on Slayer and other skills.
