Brawl Report #170: A rough brawl for my guild

Splinterland Brawls are a guild event where you can earn merits and SPS. This post serves as a way for me to review how my fights went and as a reminder to sign up for the next brawl. I have missed brawls in the past and it hurts when Gladius cards can now be used in ranked battles under the right ruleset or summoner. 4 star brawls are rough as the teams tend to be stronger. I am still in the gold league gold foil matches, and it wasn't so great this time around.

Brawl Result

I chose the gold foil modern Brawl and got 5 wins. This time, there was 1 free win because 1 guild did not submit someone to my brawl. My rewards for the brawl were 2,524 merits and 38.018 SPS in the 4-star category. My guild ranked 10th place out of the 10 guilds there. I choose to take the gold foil modern brawl because my guild usually doesn't fill all their spots, and I prefer to give my other guild members a chance at the brawls. I did great this time around, but my guild didn't.

Brawl fights

There were 4 that I lost. 3 that I won, and 1 won due to surrender. So, I included an idea of the match below and a few thoughts about it.

You can find the first match here. I lost this match because my opponent had a stronger lineup. I wasn't expecting the magic monster to be there, and it killed off my ideal tank.

You can find the second match here. I lost this match because my opponent had a stronger lineup. I was limited in my choices, and my opponent just had more damage than I with more monsters.

You can find the third match here. I won this match because I had the stronger lineup. I used magic monsters, and that was enough to turn the battle against my opponent.

You can find the fourth match here. I won this match because I had the stronger lineup. My opponent didn't have many attackers and I took advantage of the cripple to slowly remove the monsters up front.

You can find the fifth match here. I lost this match because my opponent had a stronger lineup. My opponent had a strong monster in the back to deal with sneak monsters, and I didn't. This allowed my opponent's Katrelba to stack bloodlust.

You can find the sixth match here. I won this match because I had the stronger lineup. My opponent didn't make the most of his mana, but I did by including a full lineup.

You can find the seventh match here. I lost this match because my opponent had better luck. It was close but I did miss a few attacks.

Conclusion

Doing 7 fights for 2,524 merits and 38.018 SPS is a good reward for the effort. I did better this time around as I actually won fights aside from the free wins. However, we had so many guilds, and we didn't collect as many free wins from the inactive players. This led to placing last and getting lower rewards than last time.
