Brawl Report #160: A rough brawl

Splinterland Brawls are a guild event where you can earn merits and SPS. This post serves as a way for me to review how my fights went and as a reminder to sign up for the next brawl. I have missed brawls in the past and it hurts when Gladius cards can now be used in ranked battles using the soulbound summoners. 4 star brawls are rough as the teams tend to be stronger. I am still in the gold league gold foil matches, and it was bad this time around for both me and my guild.

Brawl Result

I chose the gold foil modern Brawl and got 2 win. This time, there were 1 free win because 1 guild did not submit anyone. My rewards for the brawl were 2,048 merits and 36.027 SPS in the 4-star category. My guild ranked 7th place out of the 8 guilds there. I choose to take the gold foil modern brawl because my guild usually doesn't fill all their spots, and I prefer to give my other guild members a chance at the brawls. I didn't do so great, and my guild also did quite bad.

Brawl fights

There were 5 that I lost and 1 that I won. So, I included an idea of the match below and a few thoughts about it.

You can find the first match here. I lost this match because my opponent had a stronger lineup. TThe level disadvantage plus the magic monsters were just too much for me to overcome.

You can find the second match here. I lost this match because my opponent had a stronger lineup. I tried to outlast my opponent but my opponent just had stronger monsters, and all those heals kept his monsters alive.

You can find the third match here. I won this match because I had the stronger lineup. You can read more about it in this post, but I won because I choose the right summoner to reduce the damage that I would take.

You can find the fourth match here. I lost this match because my opponent had a stronger lineup. My opponent did a good job of combining his summoners increased damage with his monsters, and I couldn't do much against all that damage.

You can find the fifth match here. I lost this match because my opponent had a stronger lineup. I think the taunt monster messed me up because I couldn't focus my damage on the strong monsters up front, but maybe that wouldn't have matter given the level/stat advantage that my opponent had.

You can find the sixth match here. I lost this match because my opponent had a stronger lineup. I got wrecked by all those strong magic monsters when they are combined with the summoner to increase their damage.

Conclusion

Doing 7 fights for 2,048 merits and 36.027 SPS SPS is a good reward for the effort. I didn't do so great this time around, and my guild didn't do so great either. I guess it was bound to happen at some point because my gold foil deck isn't that strong. At least I didn't get completely wiped and won one match.
