This staycation was something we had planned for almost six months. With everyone’s busy schedules, we really had to coordinate with our friends to make sure it wouldn’t conflict with work. Thankfully, we all agreed to file for a vacation leave and finally spend Father’s Day away from the city.

My friends and I decided on a two-night stay in the north of Cebu, and we all booked at Golden Sands Destination Resort in Daanbantayan. We wanted somewhere peaceful, with swimming pool for kids and a beach, and this resort is the perfect spot for us.

This is not our first time in this resort, that’s why we recommended it our friends, but things were different from the last time we’ve been here. I would say, I liked the first time that we spent here because they have 3 restaurants at before but now they only have one. They have two common swimming pools but the ones that we liked was not properly maintained maybe because they lack staff. Still, we love the place because of it is surrounded with nature and we all loved the sunset here.

Our room was cozy, clean, and spacious enough for our small family. However, the hot shower wasn’t working, so we had to transfer to another room. The staff were very helpful and accommodating, even assisting us with all our things. I initially preferred a room on the ground floor because I was with my senior citizen mom, but since the resort was fully booked, we had to settle for a room upstairs.

Most of our time was spent by the beach. The shoreline was wide, and the sand felt soft under our feet. The water was calm and clear—great for swimming. Our daughter had a blast building sandcastles and playing in the shallows. We also enjoyed lounging by the pool, sipping cold drinks, and watching the sunset—it was the kind of moment that made us feel grounded and present as a family.

On our second night, we had a simple yet meaningful Father’s Day dinner by the beach. It wasn’t fancy, but it was heartfelt. We gave a quiet toast to my husband—for all his love, patience, and hard work. He really deserved this break, and it made me happy seeing him so relaxed.

Our weekend at Golden Sands was short but sweet. It reminded us how important it is to pause and make memories together—just us, away from it all. We went home with sun-kissed skin, full hearts, and another family memory to treasure.

If you’re looking for a peaceful beach escape in the north, Golden Sands in Daanbantayan is definitely worth the drive.
