Audiovisual content production workshops with children begin (English/Spanish)

A loving greeting to all my Hive friends, especially to the culture lovers. Today I want to tell you about a beautiful experience that we have been sharing with a group of students from the Miguel Arcángel Angarita National School. In this same school we took the National Film Route during the month of January and February, activities that I also had the opportunity to share in this beautiful activity.

As a result of this approach to the film production of our country, the school was interested in training several students in the use of different tools for capturing and editing photography and video. And this week we started this training. The experience has been wonderful, as the children have a very strong interest in audiovisuals. Even so, we are in economically precarious communities, not everyone has continuous access to a cell phone and much less to a camera, but with the few resources we have we have started this whole process on the right foot.

In these first workshops we started with the basics and the theory of photography. The children drew in their notebooks the different support resources to improve their photos. Even so we could not have a photography practice because as I mentioned, being a school that is in a precarious area, the institution does not have equipment for all participants and most of the children rely on their parents' cell phones when they are at home.

But even though it will be a slow process because of all these adverse conditions, I see a lot of future for this project, since the students are very motivated and we have seen in them a very strong profile for this training. Many of them have already developed an aesthetic and artistic interpretation of the photos, so it is very possible that they will do incredible things with the tools that we begin to provide them.

I love to share with you this process and more because it is the continuity of other experiences that I have already told before, so I can narrate it as what it is, a living and wonderful process that accompanies in the heart of a community and that is exactly the culture, the community and the people who pass through and live every day.

Comenzamos los talleres de producción de contenido audiovisual con niños (Ingles/Español)

Un saludo amoroso para todos mis amigos de Hive, especialmente a los amantes de la cultura. El dio de hoy quiero contarles de una hermosa experiencia que hemos estado compartiendo con un gripo de estudiantes de la Escuela Nacional Miguel Arcángel Angarita. En esta misma escuela llevamos La Ruta del Cine Nacional durante el mes de enero y febrero, actividades que también tuve la oportunidad de compartir en esta hermosa actividad.

Como resultado de ese acercamiento a la producción cinematográfica de nuestro país, la escuela se vio interesada en formar a varios estudiantes en el manejo de las distintas herramientas de captura y edición de fotografía y video. Y esta semana comenzamos dicha formación. La experiencia ha sido maravillosa, ya que los niños tienen un interés bastante marcado por los audiovisuales. Aun así, estamos en comunidades precarizadas económicamente, no todos tienen acceso continuo a un celular y mucho menos a una cámara, pero con los pocos recursos que tenemos hemos comenzado con buen pie todo este proceso.

En estos primeros talleres comenzamos con lo básico y lo teórico acerca de la fotografía. Los niños dibujaron en sus cuadernos los diferentes recursos de apoyo para mejorar sus fotos. Aun así no pudimos tener una práctica de fotografía ya que como mencione, por ser una escuela que está en una zona precarizada, la institución tampoco tiene equipos para todos los participantes y la mayoría de los niños cuentan con los celulares de sus padres cuando están en sus casas.

Pero a pesar de que será un proceso lento por todas estas condiciones adversas, le veo mucho futuro a este proyecto, ya que los estudiantes están muy motivados y hemos vistos en ellos un perfil bastante fuerte para esta formación. Muchos de ellos ya han desarrollado una estética e interpretación artística de las fotos, así que es muy posible que hagan cosas increíbles con las herramientas que empezamos a brindarles.

Me encanta compartir con ustedes este proceso y más porque es la continuidad de otras experiencia que ya he contado anteriormente, por lo que lo puedo ir narrando como lo que es, un proceso vivo y maravilloso que acompañando en el corazón de una comunidad y eso exactamente es la cultura, la comunidad y las personas que transitan y viven cada día.
