Hello everyone, my Otaku friends of Hive, I hope you're all doing great. This time I want to share a new review with you. I'm going to talk about a really cool but little-known anime, The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace. When I saw that MAPPA was involved, I said "okay, this is going to be a visual gem, as always" .. but, believe me!, even with that, I wasn't ready for the... sensory bomb that this series is... it's like they took all the colors of the rainbow, maxed out the saturation!, and threw it in your face like a punch from a god, seriously, the visual style is crazy, people. Super unique, super distinctive, full of color and with a style that surprises you, there were parts where the color palette reminded me a lot of Great Pretender, especially when they go to hell with how vibrant everything is.

And it’s not just for show, the colors change if the atmosphere is calm or if there’s danger, suddenly everything is bright and garish, and immediately, if danger approaches, everything takes on warm, intense colors, as if it were on fire! Brilliant! The guy who designed the colors, who also worked on Jujutsu Kaisen and Summer Wars –imagine the level!–, is a total master, it shows… I’m not lying when I tell you it’s impressive and unique that I’ve seen in time warp, and the opening! Holy God, the opening! It’s a psychedelic trip that you have to see to understand it, it’s like they’ve crammed a half-hour deconstruction into a minute and a half, and every time you play it again, bang!, you find something else… but here’s the good part: all this beautiful and vibrant art mixes with action that is… absurd! Over the top!

Forget about being bored, this series is the complete opposite... the violence, the bizarre situations... I swear! It's like One Punch Man and Mob Psycho 100 had a child, and then the Looney Tunes came alonand said "let's see, lend me some over here." And the animation itself is a brilliant mix: it's super fluid when it has to show how powerful these gods are, but then it gets rougher, more impactful, so you really feel how brutal the fights are... it leaves you with a thousand adrenaline!

Hola a todos, amigos Otakus de Hive, espero que estén super bien, en esta ocasión les quiero compartir una nueva reseñs, les hablaré de un anime muy genial pero poco conocido, se trata de: The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace. Cuando vi que MAPPA estaba metido, dije "listo, esto va a ser una joyita visual, como siempre".. pero, ¡créanme!, ni con eso estaba listo para la… bomba sensorial que es esta serie.. es como si hubieran agarrado todos los colores del arcoíris, le metieron la saturación al máximo!, y te lo tiran a la cara como si fuera un golpe de un dios, en serio, el estilo visual es una locura, gente. Súper único, súper distintivo, lleno de color y con un estilazo que te sorprende, hubo partes que la paleta de colores me hizo acordar un montón a Great Pretender, especialmente cuando se van al carajo con lo vibrante que es todo.

Y no es que sea solo para hacerse el lindo, los colores cambian si el ambiente es tranqui o si hay peligro, de repente todo es brillante y chillón, y al toque, si se acerca el peligro, todo se pone con unos colores cálidos, intensos, ¡como si estuviera en llamas! ¡Una genialidad! El capo que diseñó los colores, que también trabajo en Jujutsu Kaisen y Summer Wars –¡imagínense el nivel!–, un maestro total, se nota.. no les miento si les digo que es impresionante y único que he visto en banda de tiempo, y el opening! ¡Dios santo, el opening! Es un viaje psicodélico que tienes que verlo para entenderlo, es como si te metieran una deconstrucción de media hora en un minuto y medio, y cada vez que lo pones de nuevo, ¡zas!, le encuentras algo más.. pero acá viene lo bueno: todo este arte hermoso y vibrante se mezcla con una acción que es… ¡absurda! ¡Exageradísima!

Olvídense de aburrirse, esta serie es todo lo contrario.. la violencia, las situaciones bizarras… ¡les juro! Es como si One Punch Man y Mob Psycho 100 hubieran tenido un hijo, y después llegaron los Looney Tunes y dijeron "a ver, préstame pa' acá". Y la animación en sí es una mezcla genial: es súper fluida cuando tiene que mostrar lo poderosos que son estos dioses, pero después se pone más ruda, más de impacto, para que sientas de verdad lo brutales que son las peleas.. te deja con la adrenalina a mil!

And here, people, watch out, because it’s key before getting into: this series does NOT hold anything back, when I tell you that there is horror, blood and sexual things, I mean it, eh... there are scenes that are... ugh!, disgusting, blood, without filter, and some sexual themes that leave you frozen... it’s raw, honestly, it seemed good to me, that they didn’t infantilize it, because it has to do with the story, no matter how fucked up it is... all of this is thrown at you in the middle of those really vibrant colors I was telling you about, which makes the contrast with the dark background tremendous! It’s even more shocking if you are one of those who are easily impressed by harsh violence or very murky sexual themes, really this series may not be for you, and that’s all fine, but for me, it added a touch of realism, that hits you, to a story that is already fantasy... and speaking of the plot, it’s about gods and demons, right?

The usual... but no! Nothing to do with it. The way Idaten Deities approaches it is super interesting. Normally, in anime, humans pray, the gods fall, the gods are... surprisingly calm, let's say! I mean, they exist because people think of them and pray to them, yes, but generally they don't get involved in human problems: wars, rapes, murders... all those "little things" we do to each other... their logic is like: "Well, humans are killing each other... they're not going to become extinct completely, we're going to be fine." Just like that.

It's a super... chaotic but at the same time realistic way of showing how a god would think based on the law of the strongest. It's only when the demons appear that they get involved, because demons... those are the ones who are a threat that could blow everyone up, all of humanity. It’s a super cynical vision that makes you think a lot… you’re like: “what a fucked up way of thinking for gods”, but then the series compares it with how we treat nature: like, we don’t mind cutting down some trees to make a path because “anyway, there are more forests”, right? It’s that same logic, as if they didn’t care… it made me think a lot with those typical questions like “if God exists, why is there so much suffering?” and this anime gives you one of the most… disturbingly believable answers (within fiction, obviously!) I’ve ever seen.

Y acá, gente, ojo, porque es clave antes de meterse: esta serie NO se guarda nada, cuando les digo que hay horror, sangre y cosas sexuales, va en serio, eh.. hay escenas que son... ¡uff!, un asco, sangre, sin filtro, y unos temas sexuales que te dejan helado.. es crudo, la verdad, a mí me pareció bien, que no lo infantilizaran, porque tiene que ver con la historia, por más jodido que sea.. todo esto te lo tiran en medio de esos colores re vibrantes que les decía, lo que hace que el contraste con lo oscuro de fondo sea ¡tremendo! Choca más todavía, si son de los que se impresionan fácil con la violencia zarpada o temas sexuales muy turbios, posta que esta serie quizás no es para ustedes, y está todo bien, pero para mí, le sumó como un toque de realismo, que te golpea, a una historia que de por sí es de fantasía.. y hablando de la trama, va de dioses y demonios, ¿no

Lo de siempre... ¡pero no! Nada que ver. La onda como lo encara Idaten Deities es súper interesante, normalmente, en los animes, los humanos rezan, caen los dioses, los dioses son... ¡sorprendentemente tranquilos, digamos! O sea, existen porque la gente piensa en ellos y les reza, sí, pero por lo general no se meten en los problemas de los humanos: guerras, violaciones, asesinatos... todas esas "cositas" que nos hacemos entre nosotros.. su lógica es tipo: "Bue, los humanos se están matando entre ellos.. no se van a extinguir del todo, nosotros vamos a estar bien". Así de una.

Es una forma súper... caótica pero al mismo tiempo como realista, de mostrar cómo pensaría un dios basándose en la ley del más fuerte, recién cuando aparecen los demonios se meten, porque los demonios... esos sí que son una amenaza de que vuelan todos por los aires, toda la humanidad. Es una visión súper cínica y que te deja pensando un montón.. te quedas tipo: "qué manera jodida de pensar para unos dioses", pero después la serie te lo compara, con cómo tratamos nosotros a la naturaleza: onda, no nos importa voltear unos árboles para hacer un camino porque "total, quedan más bosques", ¿no? Es esa misma lógica, como si no les importara.. me hizo reflexionar un montón con esas preguntas típicas de "si Dios existe, ¿por qué hay tanto sufrimiento?", y este anime te tira una de las respuestas más... perturbadoramente creíbles (¡dentro de la ficción, obvio!) que vi en mi vida.

And be careful, people, because although everything seems very colorful and even half cartoonish at times, the series has an underlying theme that is very dark and disturbing! There are strange episodes, it's as if they were immediately telling you: "We're not here to play games." The characters are also much more complicated than you think at first, and the series loves to turn all your ideas upside down. You have Hayato, who is presented to you as the main protagonist, extremely powerful and motivated... then there's Rin, the serious teacher, almost emotionless, and Paula, who starts out as the typical rookie who you say "well, she's there to be protected." But then the series starts to twist everything.

There are times, and this is crazy, when the demons can seem more human, or at least more understandable in what they're looking for, than the supposed heroes, morality is a huge problem; Both sides, gods and demons, can be equally questionable, equally beastly... you're constantly rethinking who you support, if you support either one... then you have characters like Miku, a demon, who you might dismiss at first because of her looks, but then it turns out she's an incredibly intelligent woman who sees things coming from afar. I didn't see that one coming, huh! It really makes you not want to judge a book by its cover, which, after watching so much anime, sometimes you can't avoid, the pace is something else: it goes a mile a minute, crazy! The first two chapters were released together when it premiered, and it was one crazy thing after another... I thought "surely it'll slow down a bit later", but it doesn't! It maintains this incredible energy, it throws information and plots at you like crazy, and somehow you never feel completely lost... it's like a roller coaster that always finds a new way to surprise you.

Y ojo, gente, que aunque parezca todo muy colorido y hasta medio caricaturesco a veces, la serie tiene un fondo que es ¡oscuro y perturbador con ganas! Hay episodios raros, es como que te dijeran de una: "Acá no estamos para jueguitos".. los personajes también son mucho más complicados de lo que uno piensa al principio, y a la serie le encanta darte vuelta todas las ideas que tenías, tienes a Hayato, que te lo presentan como el prota principal, recontra poderoso y motivado.. después está Rin, la maestra seria, casi sin emociones, y Paula, que arranca como la típica novata que decís "bueno, esta está para que la protejan".. pero después la serie empieza a retorcer todo.

Hay momentos, y esto es una locura, en que los demonios pueden parecer más humanos, o al menos más entendibles en lo que buscan, ¡que los supuestos héroes, la moral es un problema bárbaro; los dos bandos, dioses y demonios, pueden ser igual de cuestionables, igual de bestias.. estás todo el tiempo replanteándote a quién le vas, si es que le vas a alguno.. después tienes personajes como Miku, una demonio, que capaz al principio la descartas por cómo se ve, pero después resulta que es una tipa increíblemente inteligente y que ve las cosas venir de lejos. ¡Esa no me la vi venir, eh! De verdad que te hace no querer juzgar un libro por la tapa, cosa que, después de ver tanto anime, a veces uno no puede evitar, el ritmo es otra cosa: ¡va a mil por hora, una locura! Los primeros dos capítulos los largaron juntos cuando se estrenó, y fue una demencia atrás de otra.. pensé "seguro después baja un cambio", ¡pero qué va! Mantiene esa energía increíble, te tira información y trama a lo loco, y de alguna manera nunca te sentís completamente perdido.. es como una montaña rusa que siempre encuentra una forma nueva de hacerte sorprender.

Okay, everyone, and now for the ending... this is where things get a bit bittersweet, because, let's see, from what I understand, the anime is a complete adaptation of a web manga that, when it was made, wasn't even finished yet! And what does that mean for the ending? That they leave you with a GIANT cliffhanger! And when I say giant, I mean it, huh! It's brutal, it leaves you with all the questions, and you really feel like the story is really... just getting started... normally, an ending like that would leave me angry, but knowing how things were going and seeing how faithful they were to what they had, the truth is that I even liked it... it left me wanting more, oh well!

That just shows you how hooked I was, what I don’t understand, and it blows my mind!, is that with the production quality it has, with MAPPA involved and all the talent there is, Heion Sedai no Idaten-tachi is not even close to as popular as it deserves… it’s super underrated, people! I think this has everything to become a cult classic over time, seriously, easy. So, my final verdict? I give Heion Sedai no Idaten-tachi a 9/10, don’t worry! The only thing that lowers it a little from being a perfect 10 is that open ending that, although understandable, leaves you wanting to know how it continues that I can’t even tell you… but everything else, huh? The mind-blowing visuals, the insane action, the deep, thought-provoking themes, the characters with a thousand twists and turns, the pace that gives you no respite... it's a total experience! It's not for everyone, of course, but if you're looking for something visually stunning, something that makes you think about difficult themes, that you don't know where it's going next, and that's as wild as can be, you have to see it! Bueno, gente, y ahora el final... acá es donde la cosa se pone medio agridulce, porque, a ver, por lo que entendí, el anime adapta completito un manga web que, cuando lo hicieron, ¡todavía no estaba terminado! Y eso, ¿qué quiere decir para el final? ¡Que te dejan con un "cliffhanger" GIGANTE! Y cuando digo gigante, ¡es en serio, eh! Es brutal, te deja con todas las preguntas, y posta sentís que la historia de verdad… recién está arrancando.. normalmente, un final así me dejaría enojado, pero sabiendo cómo venía la mano y viendo lo fieles que fueron con lo que había, la verdad que hasta me gustó.. me quede con ganas de más, ¡pero bien!

Eso te demuestra lo enganchado que me tenía, lo que sí no entiendo, ¡y me vuela la cabeza!, es que con la calidad de producción que tiene, con MAPPA metido y todo el talento que hay, Heion Sedai no Idaten-tachi no es ni de cerca tan popular como se lo recontra merece.. está súper infravalorada, gente! Yo creo que esta tiene todo para ser un clásico de culto con el tiempo, en serio, fácil. Así que, ¿mi veredicto final? A Heion Sedai no Idaten-tachi le pongo un 9/10, ¡tranqui! Lo único que le baja un poquito para no ser un 10 perfecto es ese final abierto que, aunque se entiende, te deja con unas ganas de saber cómo sigue que ni te cuento.. pero todo lo demás, ¿eh? Lo visual que te explota la cabeza, la acción de locos, los temas zarpados y profundos que te dejan pensando, los personajes que tienen mil vueltas, el ritmo que no te da respiro... ¡es una experiencia total! No es para cualquiera, eso sí, pero si andan buscando algo que visualmente sea una bomba, que te haga pensar con temas jodidos, que no sepas para dónde va a salir, y que sea salvaje a más no poder, ¡tienen que verla! Y bueno, hasta aquí la reseña de hoy, cuidense mucho! Byebye!
