I completely agree with what you say. Sometimes reading becomes an obligation rather than a pleasure. The same thing has happened to me; I have a hard time concentrating and getting hooked on a book, even though I used to devour one after another. Maybe your brain just needs a break, as you say, and it's best not to force it. Sometimes, when you least expect it, you come across a story that draws you in again.
