What a great review! Note that I haven't read it, but everything you say has piqued my curiosity. I find it super interesting that it shows the war from so many points of view, not just the typical one. And the fact that the real characters are mixed with the fictional ones, and that you notice the author's contempt for the Soviets is a key point. It's good to have that critical eye after reading.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the book; it really sounds powerful and immersive. I'll make a note of it to see if I get around to reading it! 😊
