Once Upon a Day Back Home in the Province ☘️

Hello everyone! How are you guys doing? I hope and pray that everyone is safe and sound from the recent typhoon.
Because of Typhoon Fung-Wong (international name) or Uwan (local name), classes were cancelled—so here I am, staying at home in the province.
Since I finally have the time, let me share a glimpse of what life is like here—what we do for a living and some of our favorite local snacks. But before that, here’s a little background to help you understand my story better.

For the past two months, I’ve been staying at a boarding house near my university. Life there has been quite busy, and I hardly had the chance to visit my family in the province. But now that classes are suspended because of the typhoon, I finally get to spend some time with them again—and experience once more the simplicity of provincial living.

One of our main sources of income here is making broomsticks. It’s something I’ve enjoyed doing since high school, and this week, I decided to help my sister make some since she needed money to pay for her immersion shirt.

After a while of working, we got a bit hungry—so it was snack time! Our snack was something very common here in the Philippines: unripe banana paired with salted fish sauce mixed with chili. A simple yet perfect combination that always hits the spot!

What I truly love about our place is the abundance of banana trees surrounding us. They don’t just provide food but also a cool, calming atmosphere—and shade during hot days. It’s such a peaceful and beautiful reminder of how wonderful life in the province can be.

That day, before the typhoon made landfall, the weather was calm and gentle. I took a few photos of the surroundings—our home, the trees, and the nearby river. We live close to the water, but by God’s grace, we’ve always been kept safe from flooding. 🙌🏻
Even with the uncertainty that typhoons bring, moments like these remind me to slow down, appreciate simplicity, and thank God for the protection and beauty that still surrounds us here in the province. 🌿💛
Keep safe! May the Lord give us his protection.
Kayo din po 🫶🏼
Lovely glimpse of province life! So meaningful that you spend time with family and enjoy simple food despite typhoon.
Definitely 💯 po, ang makasama sila sa gitna ng kalamidad ay siyang tunay na akong kaligayahan 🥹
Life in the province is really simple but rewarding. I will never regret leaving Manila, even though I have chosen a province near it. At least, it's still a province and no longer part of NCR. 😄
Exactly 💯 po.. thanks for dropping by
You'll never get bored pala when in your province as there's a lot to enjoy and do there. Making a broomstick sounds like a hard work but fun. And then you'll never run our of banana coz ang dami sa inyong punong saging. And I really think the trees helps para di mag flood jan.
Yes po totoo yan. Maraming pwede gawin sa bukid, definitely trees are very important lalo n kung malapit lapit sa mga sapa
Thank you 😊

So nice to stay close with nature no? it is so therapeutic, nothing can really compare, actually, none of the bright lights and stable power in the city could make me go back there 😅 peaceful life in the province is really good, especially during these times, life in the province taught us simplicity, and now, what typhoon? 😅 we are used to sleeping without power, and we are used to with picking vegetables in the yard for our meals 😋
Yes pooo, that's the power of living in the province nothing can be compared to city 🥹 thanks for dropping by po
Slow living is the best for enjoying our life
