404: Sleep Not Found – A Computer Science Student’s Story

Being a Computer Science student is quite a challenging course. I dream of becoming a Web Developer in the future, but seeing myself in the middle of pursuing this dream sometimes breaks my heart. It is so hard to learn everything about computers without having a computer or a laptop. That is one of my biggest struggles today.

Despite the struggles, I thank God for sending me a helping hand. I have a senior I know who is willing to guide me in creating our system. This second semester, I am the leader of two major projects, and not having a laptop makes everything even harder. But despite that, I was blessed to receive help. It was actually funny because it was my first time going to their house, and I passed it without realizing it since I didn’t know the exact location. I was using Google Maps, but it didn’t seem to work well because I still ended up passing their house.

Their house is right in front of the ocean, and it’s such an amazing place to chill and relax. It has become my comfort place.

After that, I went home, but I first stopped by our plaza and sat there for a while. The laptop I’m using is an old version of Toshiba, and it’s not functioning very well. It can’t fully meet my needs in creating our system.

This is our admin dashboard, our system is all about sports equipment and culture arts supplies inventory management system. Wherein we have user registration for borrowing as well as inventory reports

This is so far our initial prototype of our system. It really needs time.

This is the system Log in wherein after a user will log register he or she will be redirected to log in dashboard

After a while of doing some tasks on the laptop, I texted my friend Richelle and asked her if we could have some snacks. It turned out to be more than just snacks. I’m thankful for her presence—it really relieved me.

We had a barbecue dinner. It was still quite hot, juicy, and soft—ugh, it was the best dinner! It was my first time having barbecue again after a while, and I was so full. 🤤

And balut too! It was the best balut experience. There was no chick inside yet, and with the spicy sauce, the goodness of every bite was just amazing.
At the end of the day, I realized that even though the journey is hard, I am never truly alone. Not having a laptop, facing challenges as a leader, and struggling to keep up may sometimes break my heart, but God sends the right people at the right time. From the helping hand of my senior, to the comfort of the ocean, to the laughter over barbecue and balut with a friend—these moments remind me why I should keep going. This dream may be difficult, but it is still worth pursuing.
Til next then. Thank you for watching, please d include in your prayer 🙏🏼 (to have my very own Laptop 💻)
