Now the day's over (CF)
She was a sweet girl with the purest of soul, and kindest of hearts. Everyone loved, and adored her for her kindness. They all wished her well, but life wasn't so fair to her.
Elena was the only child of her parents, and they gave her a wonderful life. But tragedy struck, and she was all alone in the world after losing her parents. Despite all the troubles she had to go through, Elena still had a heart of gold. She was the type of person everyone would easily turn to when they were in need. She made everyone around her comfortable, and they all wished and hoped she'd find a good man who would care for her just as she took care of the people around her.
This wishes came through, or so she thought, when the young fine man approached her, all loving and sweet like an angel would.
Elena got married to Harper, and the whole community came out to wish them well.
"Please, take care of our Elena!"
"Please, be good to her!"
"Please, treat her well!"
The people called out to her husband, and he smiled sweetly at them.
Seeing the two, one would think that the marriage was a match made in heaven. Elena felt her lonely days were over, but she never knew that it had just begun.
Some months into their marriage, Harper's wild side came to the surface. He was always angry at the slightest provocation. He reminded her everyday that she had no one to return to if she left the marriage.
"There's no one here to save you." He'd say to her after every episode.
Elena became a sad, depressed woman. She missed her old life when all she had to do was take care of people.
She wished she could run from the hurt, but there was nowhere to run to. She had no family, and she feared that people would gossip if she returned to her hometown after just a few months into her marriage.
After moments of contemplation, Elena decided to endure the pain, hoping that a day would come whenever Harper would change his ways. But things only got worse.
He began to have an affair, and to make it worse, he'd send Elena out of the house whenever the other woman visited.
One day after he had sent her out of the house, Elena walked into a bar, and sat alone drinking, and drowning in her sorrow.
Soon the bar cleared out, and the owner came to where she sat, head on the table, dead drunk.
"Ma'am, we're closed. Do you have anyone you would like to call, or should I call you a cab?"
Elena raised her head, and stared at the man with drunken eyes. "Can I stay here instead, and drink?"
"No ma'am, you can't. We are closed for today."
"I don't want to leave." Elena muttered.
The man figured she was too drunk to make any decision. "Where do you live? I'll get you home safely."
As he said that, Elena shot to her feet, and suddenly began to cry. "Please, don't send me home. You could drop me in a river, but please don't send me home."
He looked at her, and saw the ring on her finger. It was then that he realized that maybe she was in a bad marriage. He took her to a motel, and got a room for himself so he could make sure she was safe.
As dawn broke, the man got some hangover cure and breakfast for her.
"I'm sorry for causing you trouble last night." Elena said.
"If I asked, would you tell me why you didn't want to go home last night?" He asked her.
After a few seconds of silence, Elena told him her story, and this angered the young man.
He quickly made some calls, and in no time, Harper was arrested for domestic violence. It turned out that the young man wasn't just a bartender. He was the son of a very influential man in the city.
He helped Elena get a divorce, and get fully compensated. After that, arrangements were made for her to leave the country, and pursue her dreams.
"I can't thank you enough. You're a savior in disguise. Who could've thought that getting drunk at the bar would open doors of opportunities?"
"Well, I guess we can't have new beginnings if the old ones don't come to an end." The man replied.
Some weeks later, Elena traveled out of the country.
She had endured the pain, but a new chapter was opened for her.
Often, she would wonder how her life would've turned out if she hadn't stayed back at the bar till after their closing time.

This is a nice story, @jennyzee1. We have a policy about violence against women in the community. If you would edit out the bit about the husband hitting his wife, your story would be more in line with the community guidelines. We'll be checking back later when that edit is made.
Thank you.
I've done that.
Sorry for the mistake
Thank you!
What a beautiful piece this is...
The closing time really became her turning point. And that's the thing about life, at times help can come when and where we least expect.
It's good to see she finally gets her freedom.
Thanks for sharing.
💯❤️💯
Thanks for reading 😊
Very much welcome 🤗.
Your story is very interesting. It's good that the bar owner sent him to prison, because women aren't meant to be beaten. They're meant to be loved. Have a nice afternoon.
Yeah, you're right
