A hindsight regret
Jordan and Lisa were one of the privileged students in the school. Their parents were wealthy and influential, but not once did the lot fall on them to host the party, and they were both happy about it because their strict parents would never entertain a bunch of kids screaming and drinking at their house. But one day, the lot fell on them, and that party became the most talked about in the most shameful way ever.

"Jordan, what are we going to do? Mom and Dad would never let us have a party at the house. Our birthdays are even limited to a certain number of invitees, so how do we do this now?" Lisa mused as she and her brother walked home.
"Why do you think I suggested we walk home instead of having the driver pick us up? It's because I'm confused as hell too, but then what can we do? We've attended other parties, it'd be a shame if we don't host them." Jordan replied.
"So what are we going to do? We need to come up with a solution before it gets too late." Lisa said.
"I would've suggested that we rent a place, but Mom and Dad will figure it out the moment we pull money from our credit cards." Jordan replied.
"This party is a bust. Let's just tell the other kids the truth about our strict parents. What's the worst that can happen? They'll probably say we're prisoners in our home, but it's better than having the whole school on our necks. We can volunteer to help every other person host parties at their place with financial support. That way we can still keep our respect." Lisa suggested.
"What you've suggested is right, but we should do this, even if it's this once. I might have a solution, though it's a crazy one, but it's definitely better than nothing." Jordan said.
Jordan stopped a cab and gave the driver an address. Lisa looked at
him, unsettled by Jordan's sudden decision.
"Where are we going, Jordan?" She asked him.
He smiled at her. "You'll see." He replied.
A few minutes later, they were in front of a big house. Jordan got out of the cab and walked to the front door of the house, he inserted a key, and the door opened. Lisa gasped in wonder as they stepped into the house.
"Jordan, what is this?" Lisa asked.
"It's Grandpa's gift to Dad. He gave me a key, so I was wondering if we could have the party here." Jordan replied.
"Are you out of your mind? I'd prefer we rent out a place rather than use Dad's gift to host a party. What if he finds out? Do you have any idea what he'll do? Jordan, let's call this off. I don't have a good feeling about this." Lisa complained.
"Lisa, can you just trust me? Dad never comes this way except when Grandpa is in town, and currently, Grandpa is in England. We will have the whole place
to ourselves. After this party, we'll go with your suggestion of skipping the lots." Jordan said.
"So how do we clean this place? We should fumigate the house, and get it cleaned out before the party day. There might be rats here considering it's been left unattended for a long time." Lisa asked.
"We'll find a day and do that." Jordan replied, and they went home.
The days that followed before the party was a busy one for everyone. Classes began early and ended late; because of this, it became mandatory that Jordan and Lisa's driver bring them home after school, thus, they never had the chance to clean the party venue.
On the day of the party, Lisa suggested that they skip classes and fumigate the place.
"How do we do that? All we can do is sweep the area that will be in use and place some air fresheners around. It's already late to fumigate the house." Jordan said.
"How is it late? If we fumigate it around 1 pm, before 7 pm should be conducive for the party. I'm just worried that there might be insects and maybe rats in there." Lisa countered.
"You worry for nothing." Jude responded.
As early as 7 pm, people started trooping in for the party, and in no time, the house was filled with excitement, as the students danced and screamed. All of a sudden, a long shrill scream was heard, and in a heartbeat, the place was in a stampede as the students jumped over one another.
Jordan and his friends ran toward the area of the disturbance.
"What's going on?" Jordan yelled.
"There's a spider in the drinks!!!" A voice screamed, and what followed were moments none of the students would forget in a hurry. A rat jumped down from the ceiling, and the students screamed and ran for the door all at once.
Lisa stood and watched as everyone exited the house. She walked to where Jordan stood.
"I warned you about this, but you wouldn't listen. Now the whole school's never going to forget about this." Lisa scolded her brother.
"Maybe I should've listened to you and canceled the party, or probably fumigated the house as you suggested. What are we going to do now?" Jordan whined.
"In hindsight, this party was a bad idea." Lisa said, and the two of them sat on the floor and stared at the rats that had feasted on the cakes.
