Write to reduce, listen to forget
Greetings dear community that seemed the beauty of the simple, I hope you are enjoying these vacations and that both you and your family members are well. I am happy to share with you my Slow Living Sunday, although it is not Sunday, Tips for dealing with internal and external chaos any day of the week.
I tend to get stressed easily, much more than I should, because I am quite sensitive and anxious. And there are times when you have to deal with it even when your body and mind are under an excessive amount of stress, but most of the time you don't, usually if you want to, you can take the time to get away for a while and relax.
There are two things that help me a lot, one of them is writing, I always liked to write what I felt, what I thought or even some experience, I prefer to do it traditionally with pencil and paper. In therapy I learned an exercise that I have already told a little about and that is to make a list of things to be grateful for, but specific things of the day, this helps me to focus my mind on positive things and as it requires effort of your brain to think and remember at the end, the stress has decreased a lot.
But there is another thing that is what I do more lately and that is to listen (in the background) to videos or audios with positive content, they usually deal with topics like ways to cultivate qualities like patience, self-control, ways to show love to others and so on, while watching the sky in the backyard of the house I live in or watching the birds eat the rice that I usually water in the backyard soil so the birds come over.
This helps me a lot when I am anxious, but when my body and mind can't cope with the stress and I can't concentrate on anything else but my negative thoughts, or my mind repeating over and over the list of things I have to do, then I mix both activities. I listen to the videos in the background sitting in the backyard, accompanied by my notebook and a pen, I write down the main ideas of what I am listening to, and my personal conclusions about the topic.
I do this for a while, and for me it is like recharging energy and seeing things from another perspective, there have been times when I have been super stressed, to the point of crying for not knowing how to solve something and then after a while listening and reflecting on what I have heard, the solution appears in front of me and I just say to myself "was there a need to cry about it?
The truth is that sometimes there is a need to cry, to get everything out and get rid of all those feelings and frustrations contained within, but sometimes the same stress and anxiety about the routine and how fast everything goes, prevents you from seeing what that solution is. That's why I consider it too necessary to take a break and depending on what you like or what works best for you, calm your mind or even distract it a little because as my mom always says "everything is in the mind".
And yes, it is. Therefore, I think it is very important to put in your head a chip of not wanting to be always productive or willing to do everything to solve or follow the pace of society, that causes so much harm to the mind and prevents you from enjoying the little things, until you get to the point of not being able to enjoy anything. Like everything in life, you have to set limits, because everything in excess is bad, if we live on the edge of stress, do we really live?

Hi @jemima1996 ☺️💗
How productive are the techniques you use to relax. I love pen and paper for writing, it's the perfect tune to drain endless toxic emotions. I'm going to try to do the technique of listening in the background to the description of some beautiful quality to cultivate it, I just don't have a backyard to combine it with nature like you do, but I'll try near my window.
I'm glad that in the midst of so much anxiety and sensitivity you have figured out a way to reduce stress and feel calmer.
A big hug 💞 🤗
Yes, writing is definitely letting go through your fingers. Have you ever thought of having one of those plants that live in the shade? It's helpful to have one, a little piece of nature inside the home feels good. I hope you find these tips useful, thanks for taking the time to leave me your valuable comment.
Happy New Year!🎉
Thank you very much for stopping by, I hope you also have an amazing day full of small but meaningful things. A hug dear community.
Writing is therapeutic. I can testify to that.
No. In such situation, we're just alive not living. This is an amazing post I related to what you shared Thanks for sharing. You look really really pretty btw ❤️
Oh, how kind you are 💓 thank you so much for that nice compliment and for taking the time to read my post, I value that very much, I hope you have an amazing day, because with your words, you brightened mine 🙂
For me writing is magical, telling my life story in form of a book.
Yes it is, and it's great that you do it.
I like the fact that you specified your preferred writing style: "the traditional way of writing with a pen and paper or book". Which is also my preferred writing style. I get to draw inspiration this way, rather than typing on an android.
Yes, I feel that writing on paper with pencil allows what you feel to come out more, without distractions, I don't know how or why but it works better. I think that because of what you mention, one is more inspired and allows creativity to flow.
Those positive videos/audios can be a lifechanger! For a while I was on an audiobook kick that I was borrowing so many from the library. I would listen as I was walking someplace, or doing the dishes.
Also, I literally said "WOW!!" over that huge aloe plant in your yard! They're amazing! :D

Oh yes, I also love audio books, they are a super practical way to absorb knowledge while you sort out your mind.
🤭 Haha yeah, and in the picture it doesn't look as big as it really is, even I'm surprised when I see it every day.
Thanks for that beer 🙂
