What the little flowers in my garden taught me

This past month has been extremely busy for me and my husband. When we have such busy periods, it is very easy to neglect our routines or put off tasks such as mowing the lawn and other similar chores. So, going out into the garden is no longer relaxing; on the contrary, it causes me a lot of stress to see the grass growing a little every day. However, it is not the grass in my garden that I want to talk to you about.

These days, among all that overgrowth, a little plant has sprouted that I don't know how it ended up in my garden because there are no plants like that nearby, but I really like it because it has very vivid colors. It's a yellow cosmos, and honestly, it's one of those flowers that totally catches my attention when I see it in gardens because it's impossible not to notice it because its colors are so bright.

So, as I was going out to let my kittens have some time outdoors, I realized how stressful it was to watch all those weeds grow, and I saw two little flowers that, although small, stole my attention. They were so vividly yellow, so strong and striking that for a second I forgot I was in that garden full of weeds. And I immediately thought about how easy it is for us humans to be distracted from the most important and beautiful things.

But also how easy it could be for us to always focus on something beautiful and peaceful in this world full of chaos. And I think that's a skill we learn when we focus on living a life in which we give more importance to the most essential things. So even something as small as a little flower growing among all the weeds in my garden can make me feel free from all the chaos around me.

Several years ago, my teacher said something to me that stuck in my mind forever and became part of me: "There is beauty everywhere, we just have to know how to see it." That phrase made so much sense to me that I took it as my own, and it taught me to look twice at a place or even a situation to find the beauty that the chaos around me prevents me from seeing. And this applies to everything: people, places, situations, and even emotions.

I am always grateful to have learned in such a simple way to see beyond what is visible to the naked eye, so from my point of view, being free is being able to see beyond what is visible. Because we always talk about having a simple life, without so many possessions and so on, but it is also about having a deeper life in which we do not remain on the surface of anything, and being able to do this makes us free because it allows us not to have our minds imprisoned by thoughts or desires that are honestly just a burden.

And if being able to notice that there are two tiny flowers among all that weeds makes me happy, because even amid all the chaos I learned to see the little things in life that are much more important and that make me feel good. It may seem too simple, but the truth is that something so small is a salvation in really hard times, or when problems abound.

There is always a beautiful thing to be happy about in our lives but we focus to much on the unnecessary. According to the minimalist lifestyle, mindfulness can help us focus on what should truly matter to us.

Yes, it is. That is why minimalism is not only a way of life, but a way of thinking, of being. But seeing with clarity and without thinking about problems is the emotional minimalism I hope for. Thanks for your comments...

If the little flower can make you feel happy, then we just have to embrace the beauty of things around us which can in turn make us feel so excited instead of being caged.

Yes, the city steals a lot of happiness and we do not realize it, but nature always knows how to give it back and it is pleasant to see it. Happy evening and thanks for your support.
